KIP COLEVice President, VMware Tanzu, Asia Pacific & Japan, VMware

Kip Cole is the Vice President of VMware Tanzu in Asia Pacific & Japan. His mission is to help customers modernize their applications portfolio through the innovative use of contemporary microservices, agile development practises and hybrid cloud platforms. This strategic focus aligns closely with the growing emphasis on business agility and decreasing time-to-market as enterprises and governments adapt to accelerated changes in end-user demands.

Before joining VMware in April 2020, Kip led the global go-to-market team for SAP’s Enterprise Commerce business. He also held several senior leadership roles with Cisco Systems, Sybase and Honeywell in Australia, Europe, North America, and Asia. Having worked and lived in China, Japan and Singapore for the last 15 years, Kip has a deep appreciation of the cultural nuances of the region, and understanding of its potential to leapfrog generations of technology to adopt agile developments practices and most advance hybrid cloud platforms.

Now based in Singapore, Kip brings immense experience in software and hardware development, networking, databases, cloud services and applications to creating tangible customer value, building diverse and motivated teams, and delivering consistent business growth and performance.

Kip holds an MBA from the D'Amore-McKim School of Business at NortheasternUniversity.

DEVAN PARINPANAYAGAMCountry Manager, Malaysia, VMware

Devan Parinpanayagam is the Country Manager for VMware Malaysia. Devan is an industry veteran with over 22 years’ experience managing multiple technical, product and management roles across channels, business and sales.

Devan joins VMware from Microsoft Malaysia where he was the director of solution sales responsible for the growth of solutions like the Cloud (Azure, O365, CRM On-Line), Data Platform (SQL, IoT), Security (EMS) and Windows & Devices (Surface). He has also held strategic positions with Fujitsu, Maxis, Cisco, amongst others.

Devan prioritizes team and individual development with his philosophy of ‘Grow the Business, Grow the Team, Grow Myself’.

Devan is married with two children and loves golf. He is also a keen runner and has set a personal goal to climb the Everest Base Camp and complete an Olympic Triathlon.

M. UMAPATHY SIVANChief Information Officer, Telekom Malaysia Berhad

M. Umapathy Sivan (SIVAN) graduated as a MASTERS in BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION from University of London, UK in 2002. Sivan also holds a Bachelor of Science from University of Newcastle, Australia majoring in Information System and Computing.

Sivan started his career with WebGuruAsia (WGA) as a Web Project Manager. He supported the demand and project Management of web and content development. Sivan marshalled the projects for Singapore Airlines and Pepsi.

In 2002, he joined Dell Inc for the role of the Global e-Services Manager. Sivan managed an organization of 35 personnel in 6 countries managing Support.AP. DELL.com in 8 local languages. Sivan won 2 awards and completed the Six Sigma Black & Green Belt Certification with 3 Global BPI project which cost savings up to USD$10 Million.

Sivan joined Shell IT Global in 2005 to manage the Senior Global Service Desk Manager for End User Computing (EUC) organization. The organization consists off 400+ employees in 4 global Center of Excellence (COE) centers in Cyberjaya Malaysia, Beijing China, Manchester UK and Houston UK. Sivan was certified as Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programing during his stay at Shell.

In 2008, Sivan helped the Shell IT EUC centers to transition to HP Outsourcing program. The EUC outsourcing was the largest IT outsourcing in the Energy industry to date. In HP, Sivan took up the role of Service Delivery Manager and managed the delivery organization of 230 members to fulfill the IT support and services for Global clients.

Sivan moved to the telecommunication industry in 2010 as he joined Huawei as the Regional Service Delivery Director. Huawei was the longest tenure in Sivan’s career, where he worked in 3 different organizations for the next 9 years covering the role of Service and Fulfilment delivery, Solution Manager before signing of as IT Business Director for Axiata Account. He was also the first Malaysia employee to be certified for the “Competencies & Qualification” Level 5. Sivan has also won the following awards during his tenure with Huawei:

• Best Global team awards for COE support in 2014• Presidential Global Medal in 2016 for 1st Global IT Cloud Project• Presidential Global award in 2017 for 1st Cloud BSS Project delivery

He joinedTM on 8 August 2019 as a Chief Information Officer. As Chief Information Officer, he oversees Group IT & Digital (GITD) is TM’s central division for delivery and operations of all IT services; with Analytics, Process, Digital and Innovation as the main capability domains. Primary focus is on internal IT demands with a roadmap to deliver external IT demands in supporting LOBs go to market. Under the stewardship of Sivan, the Company is transitioning legacy technologies to new next generation technologies, to help drive IT transformation efforts. This involved taking over of major IT platforms and consolidating resources to ensure that cost is optimised and IT platforms are modernised. Internally, the business wants to make IT “Lean, Mean and Clean” - leveraging on tools and platforms that is “Simple, Standard and Stable”.

In the year 2020, Sivan received 2 recognitions by the Global CIO Forum Committee for his merits and achievements in driving organizational excellence:

• The World CIO 200 Awards with the title of NEXT-GEN• DX Inspire Awards 2020 with the title of Inspiring RPA Transformation

EUGENE SWEEPrincipal Cloud Native Architect, Southeast Asia, VMware

Eugene Swee is a Principal Cloud Native Architect at VMware Tanzu. He is part of the Cloud Native Architecture team focusing on uplifting the Cloud Native Ecosystem in Singapore. He is passionate about Agile, DevOps, Automation and Cloud Native technologies.

JIA JUN NGSolutions Engineer, Singapore, VMware

Jia Jun Ng (JJ) is a solutions engineer at VMware with expertise on modern application architecture and cloud native technologies. He shapes technology roadmaps for customer’s digital transformation journey and delivers technical outcomes to achieve business values. Over the past few years, JJ has helped organizations across ASEAN to architect and build scalable solutions in the hybrid cloud.
