WHIRLPOOL CORPORATION, STATE AND LOCAL IOWA OFFICIALSPARTNER TO DRIVE INVESTMENT IN AMANA, IOWA FACILITY

AMANA, IA - February 18, 2010 - Whirlpool Corporation’s Amana Division, a leading producer of refrigeratorsand the only manufacturer of the freestanding freezer-on-the-bottom configuration of refrigerators in the UnitedStates, announced today plans for a significant investment in its facility in Amana, Iowa.

“We are very pleased to announce that together with leaders from Iowa County and the state of Iowa, we’veassembled a package of financial support that will enable the Amana facility to drive improved productivity andefficiency, and support the continuing efforts of our brands to deliver a constant stream of innovation toconsumers,” said Dan Smith, Amana Division vice president.

The funding will allow Whirlpool Amana to make needed upgrades, including improvements in facilityinfrastructure, energy efficiency, equipment and processes. These changes will also help ensure that theAmana plant remains a vital member of the Amana community.

“This important work has served to further strengthen the partnership between Priority One, the Iowa City AreaDevelopment Group, Iowa County, the state of Iowa and Whirlpool Corporation and its Amana plant. Additionally, Whirlpool announced that the Amana plant will begin production of 50-lb icemakers later this year,which will transition from the company’s Evansville, Indiana facility. Whirlpool identified the consolidation of theicemaker production into the Amana site as an opportunity to further leverage best cost, best quality and bestasset utilization. The product transition will create 60 new jobs at the Amana plant.
