- Jordan is a small, upper middle-income country, with limited natural resources.

- Jordan's economy is mainly dependent on exports,

tourism, and overseas Jordanian employees'

remittances. - The three main natural resources of the country are

phosphates, potash and lime. - The economy remains in a low-growth scenario with

GDP expected to increase by 2.4% in 2018 and 2.5%

in 2019 from 2.1% in 2017.

19% of the GDP while the import of 43%. - The two most important sectors in Jordan’s

development are industry and construction. - Prosperity can be achieved by invest in human

negatively impacted the Jordanian economy.

- Jordan is blessed with a big number of academic,

skilled and professional people. - Self-employment is one of the main paths into the

labour market in Jordan. - Only 40 percent of people exiting education are

absorbed into the labour market. - National minimum wage was raised by 16% in

2017, but it remains lower that the poverty

threshold.

- Fragmented data collection on TVET and related employment,

the data that is available is often outdated or inaccurate, and it is

not used effectively.

- Labour Market Information Systems (LMIS) play a crucial role

in enabling data based policies and decision making, and also in

monitoring TVET graduate employability.

- The political situation makes it difficult to develop long term

labour market forecasting.

- The majority of Jordanian companies are trade based. thus they

have little defined technical, vocational and STEM

requirements.
