The primary focus is to assist customers who either lack computer access or the knowledge to best use their existing computer technology to strengthen their organizations. The new Office of Out of School Time Grants and Youth Outcomes (OST Office), located in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education (DME), in partnership with United Way of the National Capital Area (United Way NCA), is seeking volunteer grant proposal reviewers for two separate FY18 Summer Request for Proposals (RFP) that will award over 2 million dollars. United Way NCA is responsible for leading the peer review process and seeks a diverse group of experienced reviewers for an important role that will help at-risk children and youth in the District have fulfilling and enriching summers. Previous Funding Resources and Announcements US Lacrosse Soft Stick Lacrosse Equipment Grant. The US Lacrosse Soft Stick Lacrosse Equipment Grant announces in kind grant to provide a set of soft lacrosse equipment to schools, after-school programs and community-based youth organizations. A set of soft lacrosse equipment includes; 30 soft lacrosse sticks, 30 soft lacrosse balls, one (1) copy of the US Lacrosse PE Curriculum Guide and Reproducible packet and one (1) copy of the Teaching Soft-Stick Lacrosse DVD. MLK Day of Service Impact School Grants. Grants of up to $1,500 are available to schools that meaningfully engage students to #LeadASAP on national days of service (9/11 Day of Service, MLK Day of Service, and Global Youth Service Day) and help them learn, lead, and achieve. Youth Service America (YSA) in partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service, will select 50 K-12 public schools to receive a grant to support engaging students in a schoolwide service activities during the weekend of Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service (January 13-15, 2018) with some classes continuing through Global Youth Service Day (April 20-22, 2018). For more information and to apply visit www.YSA.org/MLKDayGrants . After-School Athletic Programs for Middle Schoolers Funded. The Justin J. Watt Foundation provides after-school opportunities for middle school-aged children to become involved in athletics, so that they may learn the character traits of accountability, teamwork, leadership, work ethics, and perseverance, while in a safe and supervised environment with their peers. Funding for uniforms and/or equipment is provided to approved schools that have an after-school athletic program for 6th to 8th graders and where over 60% of students are eligible for Free/Reduced Lunch program. Schools must provide a secure place to store uniforms and equipment, as well as staff, transportation, and space for the after-school program. Requests may be submitted throughout the year and are reviewed every month except June, July, and December.
