Your One-Stop Seal ProviderHi-Tech Seals Acquires Gasketmaster

As of April, Gasketmaster & Supply Inc. has joined Hi-Tech Seals as a subsidiary and has been renamed Hi-Tech Gaskets Inc. Gasketmaster has provided us with experienced staff, extensive manufacturing capabilities and a vast inventory of spiral wound and ring joint gaskets.

We would like to welcome Susan Baker, Don Barker, Jason Manhard and Ken Farrel to our company. Each employee comes to us with years of gasket and seal experience. We look forward to combining their extensive experience with the service that we provide to our customers.

We are pleased to offer gasket manufacturing solutions with the aid of a die cutting press, hand cutting process and a water jet. Our experienced staff can work from dimensions, customer supplied drawings or a sample to produce a new component.

Purchasing products manufactured by Hi-Tech Gaskets will will help to avoid costly set up charges. Hi-Tech Gaskets hasin-house die making capabilities to reduce the cost on die-cut gaskets. Additionally, our water jet uses CAM (computer aid manufacturing) software to quickly manufacture parts.

The maximum manufacturing dimensions of gaskets that our water jet can produce are 5’ (60”) by 135”, die cut round 48”, die cut oblong 33” by 66” and hand cut up to 48”.

Tungsten CarbideTechnically Speaking

Tungsten carbide material features extreme wear resistance and hardness. The material is typically forged by the reaction of tungsten (W) metal and carbon (C) at 1400 to 2000˚C. The result is a grey powder that can be pressed and formed into virtually any shape. When processing the powder into a shape, manufacturers use either a nickel or cobalt-bonding agent. Several chemical compositions can be used to provide better properties for varying applications. The percentage of chemicals for nickel bonded tungsten carbide can ranges from 94% WC/ 6% NiCr to 90% WC / 10% NiCr.

A 94% WC / 6% NiCr Tungsten Carbide composition is the most popular blend used by Hi-Tech Seals’ clientele in the downhole tools industry. The nickel-bonding agent tends to perform better than other blends in a downhole environment. Cobalt blends are also used in various oilfield applications and tend to display better impact resistance over a WcNi blend. Hi-Tech Seals has gained experience while working with our global clientele and can assist you in the selection of the proper Tungsten Carbide material for your specific application.

Density : 14.5 -14.9 g/cm3Hardness : 89.5 HRABending strength : 1550 N/mm2Coefficient of linear expansion (106/k) : 5.2Melting point : 2870˚C
