Fault Finding

Symptom Possible Cause(s)

Poor starting Check Crank Pick-up sensor resistance and air gap

Running on one cylinder Check appropriate ignition coil

Poor running Check valve timing correct

Bike will start but not rev / fuel starvation

Ensure fuel tank breather hose not kinked, particularly if tank has been removed

Poor running / cutting out

Ensure Airbox inlet rubbers correctly fitted and not kinked or tucked

Rev Limiter appears to be cutting in at too low revs

Check crankshaft sensor air gap not too wide

Intermittent cutting out, glowing MIL, poor running. ossible blown fuses. P

Water ingress into main harness connector plug causing oxidisation. Clean connections if possible. If oo far gone, replace harness t

Abnormally high fuel pressure Check Fuel pressure regulator operating correctly

M IL Flickering - no DTC L oose battery (power) connection

P0462 Fault code appearing for fuel sender

This is due to the configuration of the earth wires in the harness, and the volt drops induced by the current flowing in these wires, causing the ECU to read an input voltage outside of the valid range for the fuel level sender.

To overcome this, the fuel level sender earth needs to be removed from its current location and tied directly in to the ECU ground. A solution has been tested to good effect. Please contact Triumph’s Technical team for further assistance

Oil dripping from air-box breather hose / Centrifugal breather disc leaking

Check breather disc is mounted squarely to crank Ensure run out does not exceed 0.2mm Ensure seal fitted correctly

Poor front brake performance Ensure air has not been induced during shipping – bleed & test
