“Transformation into an effective leader does not happen overnight. It is a journey that starts and ends with the Master, is torn down and built up through circumstances, and requires an attitude of continuous learning.”--Next Level Leadership Network

Elements of Coaching and Mentoring Leaders

Create Inspire Seek

Teamwork—Connecting Sunday School to Life

Create: Create an environment where failure is not

fatal. “Fear of failing will shut down learning.”

Create learning opportunities. Make learning available through activities and resources.

Set the example. Model continuous learning. “People seldom improve when they have no

model but themselves to copy.” –Oliver Goldsmith

Teamwork—Connecting Sunday School to Life

Inspire: Seek opportunities to learn from those

you lead. Give assignments that challenge and

stretch leaders to learn. Encourage and compliment their efforts

and recognize their improvements.“Leaders inspire their leadership when

they seek to learn rather than when they seek to teach.”

Teamwork—Connecting Sunday School to Life

Seek: Seek out leaders who have a strong

desire to improve themselves. Help them identify and close the gap

between where they are (skills, gifts, talents) and where they want to go (purpose.)

Seek opportunities for reflection, feedback, and transfer of key learnings.

Teamwork—Connecting Sunday School to Life

God began the work within you. God sees to its completion. We are privileged to participate with God in that work.

Philippians 1:6

Teamwork—Connecting Sunday School to Life

Learn critical needs of the people you will be resource to.

Create a way to introduce that issue in a conference setting.

Create a way to give feedback on what is being learned.

Ready for the Journey

Completion God began the work within you. God

sees to its completion. We are privileged to

participate with God in that work.

Philippians 1:6

Ready for the Journey

God has called us to be leaders. God’s Call as PERSON. We are called

by Him, to Him, for Him Col. 2:6-7 God’s Call as PURPOSE. We are

called to serve His purpose. 2 Timothy 1:8-9

God’s Call as PASSION. God’s call uniquely connects you to your passions.

Ready for the Journey

God’s Call as PATH. God’s call for you includes the preparation needed to succeed in your unique calling.

God’s Call as POSITION. God places each of us in leadership roles for His kingdom.
