TEAM NEWSLETTER
Dear Team Member,
Welcome to the Christmas edition of our newsletter!
We have had lots of successes across the group over the last couple of months, including promotions,
awards and qualifications.
This edition includes some really useful information about our approach to annual appraisals, why we do
them, and how you can increase your appraisal rating!
I also wanted to share with you why I originally decided to found Jasmine many years ago. I hope this will
give you a good insight into why I am so passionate about providing the highest standards of care, and
improving elderly care in general.
I also wanted to include a festive thank you for the amazing work you do, as you can see we have so much
to be proud of as a Team. Thank you for a great 2019 and here’s to an even better 2020!
Yours,
Chris Clark Managing Director
About 10 years after the photograph on the left was taken both my grandmothers developed dementia and moved into care
homes
Nana Goodchild had some money, and moved into a pleasant enough new build care home, but it was a bit soulless and had
no character
Granny Ewing initially moved into the Old Manor House (see below), which due to having no mod-cons, was paid for by
social services. However, this home provided great care and companionship in a homely environment
by Chris Clark
Sadly when the Old Manor House couldn’t care for Granny Ewing anymore, she moved to Field House Nursing home. This was like a
Victorian hospital, where she shared a room with two other residents, with no dignity or respect
My heart sank every time I visited her in this care home
It was at this time that I decided that I wanted to set up an elderly care home group, having always been told that you had to be really
passionate about something to really succeed at it
Jasmine Healthcare Limited was set up the following year in 2004, and St Andrew’s Nursing & Care Home was purchased shortly
afterwards…
The ethos of Jasmine has always been to provide great care in characterful and lovely homes to residents regardless of their means
Jasmine’s Mission, Objectives and Values followed later to build on this simple aim…and are now the basis of everything we do

In September Ben at Orchard Court was nominated for a Lincolnshire Care Award by a relative of a resident who
had recently passed away
Unfortunately Ben could not be nominated as the awards do not cover Brigg, however LINCA have awarded him
with a certificate of achievement for his outstanding care. They commented that his nomination highlighted Ben’s
‘dedication and devotion’ to those he cares for
Congratulations and Well Done to Ben on an amazing achievement, and for being such a fantastic ambassador
for Jasmine
In January, Angie, one of our Nurses at St Andrews celebrates 15 years at the care home
Congratulations on this amazing achievement and Thank You for everything you have
done (and continue to do) for St Andrews
A couple of week’s ago the team at South Moor Lodge were awarded the React to Red Award by CHASE (Care Home Achievement Success Event)
The team were recognised as they achieved a 100% reduction in avoidable pressure ulcers
Lisa (the Manager at SML) wanted to highlight that this achievement would not have been possible without the hard work of her entire
team
Well done to everyone at SML, a well deserved award to add to your growing collection!
We’ve had a bumper crop of qualifications during the last couple of months:
Kelly-Ann Clemence, Sue Vinson, Amanda
Wiseman and Gayle Wood at St Andrews have all been awarded their Level 3
Sophie Pack and Shannon Bullock at Avenue
House have been awarded their Level 3 and Sam Hoare-Wilkinson and Charlotte Pearce have both
completed their Level 5!
Well done & Congratulations to all of you for all your hard work
Don’t forget that we pay all course fees and give out voucher incentives for all NVQ Qualifications
completed!
Last week the kitchen at Oxendon House had their regular visit from the Environment Health Office.
They have been awarded 5 stars!
Congratulations to the kitchen team and everyone at Oxendon House for this fantastic result.
If you pick up shifts at 24-48 hours notice we pay them at a
higher rate as an incentive and also as a thank you
This is to help promote the continuity of care of our residents by our own team
We’d also much prefer to pay our own team to pick up
uncovered shifts, rather than agency staff
When there are uncovered shifts your home’s Manager or Deputy will get in touch with the details (usually by text
message). If you pick up the shifts at short notice, you will be paid a higher rate for those shifts
These shifts will be allocated to the first person to respond to
the text messages sent
Speak to your Home Manager or Deputy for more information
We have an incentive for covering short notice shifts!
Congratulations to:
Gareth Knight at Oxendon House, who has recently been promoted to Home Manager
& Olivia Casey at St Andrews, who has recently been
promoted to Housekeeper
If you’re not sure what you need to do to get promoted – Ask Your Manager or Deputy Manager today
Make sure you book your holiday! Our leave year ends on 31st March and you are not able to carry any holiday over (and holiday is booked 6 weeks in advance!), so make sure you book it by mid-February We know our holiday system can sometimes seem confusing, however, this is because we want to make sure you get ALL the holiday you are entitled to! To try and make it easier, we have recently improved our payslips, so that they show how many holiday hours you are entitled to (have earned already) You’ll find this figure on the bottom right of your payslip It’s really important you are regularly accessing your payslip through the online portal, if you need any help or support with this please speak to your manager
There are lots of things we will be doing in the coming weeks and months (including
appraisals, staff meetings and supervisions) to try and make everyone feel part of the team. If
you have ideas, let your manager know
We know filling in surveys is time consuming, however, we send them out because we really
want to hear from you!
We completed our Jasmine Values Exemplification Survey in September this year. Thank you for your honesty and your comments
We are really passionate about our Values, so we want to make sure that we are all ‘living’ our values in everything we do
Here are the details of the two highest and two lowest scoring answers, showing us what we need to continue doing and what we need to change…
One of our Care Assistants at Avenue House referred a friend to a vacancy during her interview
They both joined us over the last few months and
have decided to share the Refer A Friend bonus
If you know someone who would be a great carer
ask your friend to contact us on either 01529 309 055 or
You too could receive the bonus (to keep or to share, it’s up to you!)
We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all your hard work and dedication, and to wish you, and your family, a Happy Christmas and a Wonderful New Year!
The next edition of the Jasmine Newsletter will be uploaded to our E-Learning platform in March next year
We’ll be sharing more staff milestones, NVQ’s, promotions and news from your homes
In the meantime, please keep following some of the great things you are all doing on our Team Jasmine and individual homes’ Facebook pages…
