There is no UK national screening programme for prostate cancer. LET’S SAVE LIVES Prostate Cancer Early Diagnosis MANCHECK INFORMS men of the alternatives so that they might avoid becoming one of the 12,000 men that die from the disease annually, many unnecessarily. Prostate cancer deaths have overtaken the mortality rate for breast cancer and is on course to become the UK’s number one killer cancer. MANCHECK PROMOTES and supports independent (non NHS) prostate cancer screening events held by the small charities that have become experts in PSA screening. MANCHECK BELIEVES UK men are being disadvantaged and the current situation is unacceptable. We encourage you to take charge of your health and make informed choices. MANCHECK CAMPAIGNS for targeted screening, now that reliable techniques that minimise unnecessary invasive investigations and other treatments have become available.

Thank you for taking the time today to travel up to Leicester to support Team Edstreme’s 2018 fundraising efforts for Mancheck. The support that our players along with their family and friends in the crowd offer us every year never fails to make me feel incredibly proud of the work that Team Edstreme carries out.

To be in Leicester today is incredible, the stadium is beautiful, and the Leicester City kits are among the nicest in the Premier League for sure. Not many people can say that they have played at the home of a Premier League winning side.

As a Portsmouth & Tottenham Hotspur fan, Leicester City have been involved in some big parts of my life. Seeing Tottenham scrape past Leicester in the 1999 League Cup Final after an Allan Nielsen goal and Portsmouth’s 2003 Division One title run in will always be special memories to me. Also, let’s not forget Pompey legend Steve Claridge’s achievements at Leicester City.

Both Phil and I are incredibly proud to this year be working alongside Chris Salmon of SG Fleet. Chris is a trustee for Mancheck.org who carry out amazing work.

Enjoy the day guys

Having played in last years pitch day at Fratton Park and helping out with the raffle, I was keen to get involved more this year and luckily Phil and Sean agreed to let me join the organising team. I am delighted that we were able to secure the King Power for this years event as it truly is a fantastic arena to play football and the team at LCFC have been a pleasure to deal with. I was overwhelmed when Sean and Phil agreed to raise funds for Mancheck, which is a charity that I am a trustee of. You can find out more about us on page 2 of this programme. I hope you will join us in the Blues Bar after the last game for a drink and who knows – maybe you might win a prize or 2 on the raffle!

Chris Salmon

Welcome to the King Power Stadium and our sixth and biggest event yet! This year we welcome Chris Salmon to the organising team and are grateful that he was able to secure this wonderful stadium, home of the 2015/16 Premier League champions. We are grateful to all of the players taking part today, especially those veterans amongst us who have been at most of our previous events! We really appreciate your support. Make sure you also purchase a raffle ticket or two, we have some incredible prizes and experiences available once again. See pages 18 and 19 for a full list of prizes.

The league was started by Sean Reading in memory, and

named after his brother Ed Reading, who passed away in July 2007 from a condition known as Sudden Death

Syndrome, during a football match. He was a keen and talented footballer whose memory will live on forever with

League Edstreme. The league was between 6 teams that came together to form a league in memory of Ed, who

was known by all that played.

In April 2011 Sean Reading and close friend Phil George formally registered the league with the FA allowing them

to grow the league, using fully affiliated referees and raise more money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) via a

cup competition where all profits were donated to CRY.

Today League Edstreme consists of 16 teams playing across 2 divisions, continuing to raise money

for local charities.

On 12th May 2013, we hosted our first 11-a-side charity pitch day at Privett Park, the home of

Gosport Borough FC. The two teams were made up of players from Edstreme United and Edstreme

Athletic, two teams of players who played at League Edstreme and in the Portsmouth Sunday

League.

Stadium, the home of Reading FC. Again we had two games taking place on the day, with the

architects derby, Holman Reading vs Helyer Davies, followed by Portsmouth Historic Dockyard vs HASAG. We

We held one game on the day with the CRY side

taking on HASAG, who ran out 5-4 winners after a very close game. We raised over £1,100 for CRY and were grateful for a fantastic reception from all
