Centre hikes monthly pension offreedom fighters kept in Cellular Jail

New Delhi, Aug 18Centre has hiked themonthly pension of freedomfighters, who were kept inCellular Jail in AndamanIslands, by Rs. 5,000 to Rs.30,000. The pension offreedom fighters, whosuffered outside BritishIndia, has also been raisedfrom 23,000 to Rs. 28,000 permonth. Besides, the pension

of Indian National Army(INA) has also been raisedfrom Rs. 21,395 to Rs. 26,000.The hike will be effectivefrom 15th of this month.This came following thePrime Minister'sannouncement to hike thepension for freedom fightersduring the IndependenceDay address.The emoluments given to

dependents and eligibledaughters have also beenraised in the range of Rs.13,000 to Rs. 15,000.According to an officialrelease, the existing annualdearness relief system hasbeen replaced with DAsystem applicable togovernment employeestwice a year for freedomfighter pensioners.
