ANIIDCO has launched facility for credit sales of TMT bars to private contractors. Under the scheme, private contractors can avail credit facility for 30 days against Bank Guarantee. College, Karmatang, N&M Andaman District since the last two years will soon come to an end as the newly constructed double storey building has been completed. He further informed that at present 260 girls are staying in the old hostel which has a capacity of only 144. "The new hostel which has 24 rooms, will New girls hostel building at MGG College, Mayabunder 50 bedded hostel to cater to girl students from far flung places definitely solve the problem of shortage of rooms for students coming from places as far as Campbell Bay, Diglipur, Port Blair", he said. Giving details about the building, the Assistant Engineer, APWD, Shri Sudipto Saha informed that electrification work is underway and will be completed by this month. Once the electrification work is done, the building will be handed over to the Principal MGGC for usage, he said. The building has been constructed with an amount of Rs. 2,36,59,210. (Contd. on last page) (Contd. on last page) Centre hikes monthly pension of freedom fighters kept in Cellular Jail New Delhi, Aug 18 Centre has hiked the monthly pension of freedom fighters, who were kept in Cellular Jail in Andaman Islands, by Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 30,000. The pension of freedom fighters, who suffered outside British India, has also been raised from 23,000 to Rs. 28,000 per month. Besides, the pension of Indian National Army (INA) has also been raised from Rs. 21,395 to Rs. 26,000. The hike will be effective from 15th of this month. This came following the Prime Minister's announcement to hike the pension for freedom fighters during the Independence Day address. The emoluments given to dependents and eligible daughters have also been raised in the range of Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 15,000. According to an official release, the existing annual dearness relief system has been replaced with DA system applicable to government employees twice a year for freedom fighter pensioners.
