Adjusting TV settings

YoucanadjustmostpictureandsoundsettingswhileyouarewatchingaprogrambypressingÞtodisplaytheOptionsmenu.Ifyoudon’tfindwhatyouneed,thereareadditionalpictureandsoundsettingsintheSettingsmenu.

Inmostcases,thechangesyoumakeapplyonlytotheinputyouareusing.AntennaTV,eachseparateHDMI®input,andtheAVinputhavetheirownsettingsthattheTVrememberswhenyoureturntothatinput.TheTValsoremembersthesettingsyouspecifywhileviewingstreamingcontent.

YoucanadjustthefollowingoverallTVpicturesettingsfromtheSettingsscreen:

Advanced picture settings

TheAdvancedpicturesettingsmenuforeachTVinputprovidessettingsforfinetuningtheappearanceofthepicture.Allofthesettingsinthismenuapplyonlytothecurrently-selectedinput.

TousetheAdvancedpicturesettingsmenu,firstpressÞtodisplaytheOptionsmenu.ThenselectAdvancedpicturesettings.

ToadjustthesettingsontheAdvancedpicturesettingsmenu,presstheUPorDOWNarrowtohighlightasetting,andthenpresstheLEFTorRIGHTarrowtochangethesetting.You’llnoticethechangesyoumakerightawayinpictureappearance.

ThereareseveralthingsyoucandotopersonalizeyourTV.

Rearrange tiles

WheneveryouaddaTVinputtile,it’saddedatthetopofyourHomescreen.WheneveryouaddanewstreamingchannelfromtheRokuChannelStore,it’saddedatthebottomofyourHomescreen.

YoucaneasilyrearrangetheorderofthetilesontheHomescreentosuityourviewingpreferences.Forexample,youmightwantAntennaTVtobethefirsttileinyourHomescreen.Butifyoumostlywatchonestreamingchannel,youmightwantitstiletobethefirstoneonyourHomescreen.

Rearrangingtilesiseasy:

1. FromtheHomescreen,highlightoneofthetilesyouwanttomove.2. PressÞtodisplayalistofoptionsforthetypeoftileyouselected.3. SelectMoveinputorMovechannel.Thelistofoptionsdisappearsandthehighlightedtile

Edit broadcast TV channel lineup

WhenyousetuptheTVtunerasdescribedin“SettingupAntennaTV”onpage2,theTVaddsallthechannelswithgoodsignalsthatitcoulddetectinyourarea.It’slikelythatyounowhavemorechannelsthanyouwantinyourchannellist.

Toeditthechannellineup,fromtheHomescreen,navigatetoSettings>TVinputs>AntennaTV>Editchannellineup.You’llseeascreenlistingallofyourchannels.AdjacenttothelistofchannelsisaminiatureTVscreenplayingthehighlightedchannel’spictureandsound.

Highlighteachchannelyouwanttohide,andthenpressOKtohidethechannel.

Tip:Ifyouneedtoseeorhearthehighlightedchannel,waitacoupleofsecondsfortheTVtostartplayingthechannel’spictureandsound.Alsonotethatifyou’veenabledparentalcontrolsandtheprogramonthecurrentchannelisblocked,youwon’tseeapictureorhearsoundwhileeditingthechannellineup.

Configure power settings

PowersettingsletyousetupyourTVsothatitturnsontothelocationyouchoose.PowersettingsalsohelpyourTVsaveenergybyautomaticallyturningitoffundercertainconditions.

Power on settings

PoweronsettingstelltheTVwhattodowhenyouturnonthepower.Toconfigurethepoweronsettings,fromtheHomescreenmenu,navigatetoSettings>System>Power>Poweron.Highlightthepoweronlocationfromthelist,andthenpressOKtoselectit.

Auto power off settings

Tohelpyousaveenergy,yourTVcanautomaticallyturnitselfoffafteraperiodofinactivityoraperiodduringwhichnosignalhasbeendetected.Itisfactory-configuredtodobothofthesethings,butyoucanchangethesesettingsifneeded.

Creating a parental control PIN

ThefirsttimeyouaccesstheParentalcontrolsscreen,youmustcreateanewparentalcontrolPIN.Thereafter,wheneveryouwanttochangeparentalcontrolsettings,unblockprogrammingthathasbeenblocked,changethePIN,ordisableparentalcontrols,youmustenteryourparentalcontrolPIN.

Tip:YourparentalcontrolPINhasnothingtodowithyourRokuPIN.Youcanmakethemthesameifyouwant—thisisentirelyyourchoice.

OneoftheparentalcontroloptionsistocompletelyhidetheentertainmentoptionsthatareavailabledirectlyontheHomescreenmenuofTVsmanufacturedforsaleintheUnitedStates.(TheMovieStore,TVStore,andNewsoptionsarenotavailableonTVsmanufacturedforsaleinCanada).

TohideHomescreenentertainmentoptions:

1. FromtheHomescreenmenu,navigatetoSettings>Parentalcontrols,andthenenteryourparentalcontrolPIN.

Enabling parental control of TV shows

ThefirststepinblockingTVshowsistoenableparentalcontrolofTVshows.

ThissettingisprovidedseparatelytomakeiteasierforyoutoturnparentalcontrolofTVshowsonandoffwithoutdisturbingtheirsettings.Forexample,yourkidsaregoingtosummercampfortwoweeks,andwhiletheyaregone,youdon’twanttohavetodealwithunblockingshowsthatyouwanttowatchbyenteringyourparentalcontrolPIN.AllyouneedtodoisclearEnableparentalcontrols,andallTVshowsareunblocked.Whenthekidsreturn,selectEnableparentalcontrolsagain,andallofyourparentalcontrolsettingsarerestoredinasingleoperation.

• Youthgroup–TV-Y,TV-Y7• Maingroup–TV-G,TV-PG,TV-14,TV-MA

Withineachofthesegroups,theratingsinteractsuchthatifyoublockaparticularlevelofcontent,theTValsoblocksallcontentwithahigherrating.Conversely,ifyouunblockaparticularlevelofcontent,theTValsounblocksallcontentwithalowerrating.Forexample,ifyoublockTV-PGprograms,theTValsoblocksTV-14andTV-MAprograms.IfyousubsequentlyunblockTV-14programs,TV-PGprogramsarealsounblocked,butTV-MAprogramsremainblocked.

What happens when a TV show is blocked?

• Whenanewshowcomesonthechannelyouarewatchinganditsratingexceedsyoursettings.

InformationonAAAandhowarbitrationisinitiatedcanbefoundatwww.adr.orgorbycalling800-778-7879.ForClaimsbetweenYouandRokuof$75,000orless,youwillberesponsiblefortheinitialarbitrationfilingfee,uptotheamountoftheinitialfilingfeeifyouweretoinitiatealawsuitagainstRokubasedonsuchClaimsincourt.IfthearbitratorfindssuchClaimstobenon-frivolous,Rokuwillpayanydifferenceinsuchfilingfeesplusthearbitratorfees.ForClaimsbetweenYouandRokuinexcessof$75,000,ifyouareabletodemonstratethatthecostsofarbitrationwillbeprohibitiveascomparedtothecostsoflitigation,Rokuwillpayasmuchofyouractualfilingfeesandthearbitratorfeesforthearbitrationasthearbitratordeemsnecessarytopreventthearbitrationfrombeingcost-prohibitiveascomparedtothecostoflitigation.

4. ThisagreementtoarbitratedoesnotapplytoanyClaim(a)inwhichapartyisattemptingtoprotectitsintellectualpropertyrights(suchasitspatent,copyright,trademark,tradesecret,ormoralrights,butnotincludingitsprivacyorpublicityrights),or(b)thatmaybebroughtinsmall-claimscourt.

5. Iftheagreementtoarbitrateinthisprovisionisfoundtobeinvalid,unenforceableorinapplicabletoagivenClaimbetweenYouandRoku,thenanyandallproceedingstoresolvesuchClaimmustbebroughtexclusivelyinafederalcourtofcompetentjurisdictionintheNorthernDistrictofCaliforniaorinastatecourtinSantaClaraCounty,California.Youherebyirrevocablyconsenttotheexclusivejurisdictionandvenueofsuchcourts.

6. 30-DayRighttoOptOut:Youhavetherighttooptoutofthisagreementtoarbitratebysendingawrittennoticeofyourdecisiontooptouttothefollowingaddress:LegalDepartment,Roku,Inc.,150WinchesterCircle,LosGatos,CA95032,USA;providedthat,suchnoticemustbepostmarkedonorbeforethe30thdayafterthefirsttooccurofthefollowingeventsifyoudonotalreadyhaveaRokuAccount:(a)thedateofpurchaseofYourTelevision,or(b)thedateyoucreateyourRokuAccount.IfyouhaveanexistingRokuAccount,alldevicesyouchoosetolinktoyourRokuAccount,andallservicesprovidedbyRokuwhichareaccessedusingthesedevices,willbesubjecttothisagreementtoarbitrate.Yournoticeshouldincludeyourfullname,yourcurrentpostaladdress,telephonenumberandemailaddress,theproductnameandserialnumberforYourTelevision,andacopyoftheoriginalproofofpurchaseforyourTelevision.Ifyoutimelysendanoticeincompliancewiththisparagraph6,theagreementtoarbitratewillnotapplytoeitheryouorRoku.Ifyoudonottimelysendthisnotice,thenyouagreetobeboundbythisagreementtoarbitrate.

7. NotwithstandinganyprovisioninthisAgreementtothecontrary,youagreethat,ifRokuseekstodeleteormateriallymodifytheagreementtoarbitratedescribedherein,anysuchdeletionormodificationwillnotapplytoanyindividualClaimofwhichyouhavenotifiedRokupriortosuchmodification.

Miscellaneous RokumaytransferitsrightsandobligationsunderthisEULAtoanotherorganization.YoumayonlytransferyourrightsoryourobligationsunderthisEULAtoanotherpersonifRokuagreesinwriting.ThisEULAisbetweenyouandRoku.Nootherpersonshallhaveanyrightstoenforcetheseterms.EachoftheparagraphsofthisEULAoperatesseparately.Ifanycourtorrelevantauthoritydecidesthatanyofthemareunlawful,theremainingparagraphswillremaininfullforceandeffect.IfRokufailstoinsistthatyouperformanyofyourobligationsunderthisEULA,orifRokudoesnotenforceitsrightsagainstyou,orifRokudelaysindoingso,thatwillnotmeanthatRokuhaswaiveditsrightsagainstyou,orthatyoudonothavetocomplywiththoseobligations.IfRokudoeswaiveadefaultbyyou,Rokuwillonlydosoinwriting,butthatwillnotmeanthatRokuwillautomaticallywaiveanylaterdefaultbyyou.
