Standby mode energy savings

WhenyouturnoffyourTV,itmayremaininahigherpowermodeforafewminutes,afterwhichitgoesintoaverylowpowerstandbymode.IfyouturnontheTVagainbeforeithasenteredtheverylowpowermode,itturnsonimmediately.AftertheTVgoesintothelowerpowerstandbymode,ittakesabitlongertostartup.

Watching broadcast TV channels

TowatchbroadcastTV,selecttheAntennaTVtileintheHomescreen.YourTVremembersthelastchannelyouwatchedandstartswiththatchannelplaying.

Changing channels

Tochangechannels,youcandoanyofthefollowing:

Pausing Live TV

UsingLiveTVPause,yourRokuTVgivesyoutheabilitytopause,play,fastforward,andrewinddigitalbroadcastTV.YoucanpauseliveTVforupto90minutes.

YoucanenableLiveTVPauseinseveralways:

Using Live TV Pause

IfyouhaveusedtheRokuremotecontroltowatchstreamingchannels,usingLiveTVPauseshouldbeveryfamiliartoyou.

• WhilewatchingadigitalbroadcastTVchannel,pressthePLAY/PAUSEbuttontopauseorplaythecontent.AftertheTVprogramhasbeenpausedfor90minutes,theTVresumesplaying.

• Afterwatchingachannelforawhile,pressREWINDtojumpbackuptothepointwhereyoufirststartedwatchingthechannel,upto90minutes.

• Afterpausingorrewinding,pressFASTFORWARDtojumpaheaduptothepointwhereyouareonceagainwatchingtheliveTVprogram.

• PressFASTFORWARDorREWINDrepeatedlytocyclethrough1x,2x,and3xskipspeeds.PresstheINSTANTREPLAY buttontoplaybackthelastseveralsecondsoftheprogram.

YourTVhasaUSBportthatcanbeusedtoplaypersonalmusic,video,andphotofilesfromapersonalUSBflashdriveorharddisk.IfyourTVisconnectedtotheInternet,yourHomescreenhastheRoku

MediaPlayertile.IfyourTVhasnotbeenconnectedtotheInternet,theHomescreenhastheUSBMediaPlayertile.

IfyouhaveconnectedyourTVtoanetwork,itcanplaypersonalvideo,music,andphotofilesfromamediaserveronyourlocalnetwork.MediaserversincludepersonalcomputersrunningmediaserversoftwaresuchasPlexorWindowsMediaPlayer,networkfilestoragesystemsthathavebuilt-inmediaserversoftware,andotherdevicesthatimplementthespecificationsoftheDigitalLivingNetwork

*Therearemanyvariantsofeachsupportedmediaformat.Somevariantsmaynotplayatallormayhaveissuesorinconsistenciesduringplayback.

Adjusting TV settings

YoucanadjustmostpictureandsoundsettingswhileyouarewatchingaprogrambypressingÞtodisplaytheOptionsmenu.Ifyoudon’tfindwhatyouneed,thereareadditionalpictureandsoundsettingsintheSettingsmenu.

Inmostcases,thechangesyoumakeapplyonlytotheinputyouareusing.AntennaTV,eachseparateHDMI®input,andtheAVinputhavetheirownsettingsthattheTVrememberswhenyoureturntothatinput.TheTValsoremembersthesettingsyouspecifywhileviewingstreamingcontent.

Settings menu

UsetheSettingsmenutoadjustoverallTVsettings.Press togototheHomescreen,andthennavigatetoSettings>TVpicturesettings.

YoucanadjustthefollowingoverallTVpicturesettingsfromtheSettingsscreen:

• TVbrightness–IfthelightinglevelinyourTVroomchanges,usethissettingtohelpprovideabetterviewingexperience;settodarkerforadarkerroom,andbrighterforabrighterroom.ChooseamongNormalandfourothersettingstomaketheoverallpicturebrighterordarker.Sothatyoudon’thavetomakethistypeofchangeforeachTVinputoneatatime,thissettingincreasesordecreasestheTV’sgeneralbrightnessacrossallTVinputs.ThissettingisidenticaltotheTVbrightnesssettingyoucanaccessintheOptionsmenuwhilewatchingaprogram.

• Settingsperinput–ThissectionofoptionslistseachTVinput.Selectaninputtoswitchtothatinput.ThenpressÞtodisplaytheOptionsmenu,whereyoucanadjusttheinput’ssettingswhilewatchingalivepictureandlisteningtothesoundfromthatinput.

Tip:Youdon’thavetogototheSettingsmenufirst—youcandisplayaninput’sOptionsmenuandadjustitssettingswheneveryouarewatchingtheinputbypressingÞ.

TheOptionsmenuforeachTVinputprovidessettingsforcontrollingtheappearanceofthepictureandthequalityoftheaudio.

ToviewtheOptionsmenu,pressÞwheneveryouarewatchingaTVinputorstreamingavideo.TheOptionsmenuisapanelthatappearsovertheleftsideofthescreen:

ToadjustthesettingsontheOptionsmenu,presstheUPorDOWNarrowtohighlightasetting,andthenpresstheLEFTorRIGHTarrowtochangethesetting.You’llnoticethechangesyoumakerightawayinpictureappearanceoraudioquality.

• Sleeptimer–SetsatimerthatturnsofftheTVafterthespecificamountoftime.Thissettingremainsineffectevenifyoustopwatchingthecurrentinput.

• Closedcaptioning–Controlswhenyouseecaptions.ThissettingisonlyofferedforAntennaTV,theAVinput,andstreamingvideos.Anysetvalueremainsineffectacrossonlytheseinputs.

o AntennaTV–Turncaptionsonoroff,orsetthemtoappearonlywhentheTVsoundismuted.

• Resetpicturesettings–Returnsallpicturesettingsfortheinput’scurrently-selectedPicturemodetotheiroriginalvalues.

Tip:TodismisstheAdvancedpicturesettingsmenu,justwaitafewsecondswithoutpressinganybuttons.OrpressÞagaintodismissthemenuimmediately.

Changing privacy settings

Bydefault,whenconnectedtotheInternetandactivatedwithyourRokuaccount,theTVusesanadvertisingidentifiertotrackyourusagebehavior.YoucanchangetheprivacysettingsonyourTVintwoways:resettingtheadvertisingidentifierandlimitingadtracking.

Note:PrivacysettingsarenotpresentonTVsoperatinginnon-connectedmode.

Resetting the advertising identifier

Resettingtheadvertisingidentifierhastheeffectofclearingyourpriorusagehistoryandstartingover.Fromthatpointforward,yournewusagepatternsaffecttheadvertisementsyouseeonyourTV.

Toresettheadvertisingidentifier:

1. FromtheHomescreenmenu,navigatetoSettings>System>Privacy.2. HighlightResetadvertisingidentifier.PressÞtoviewmoreinformationaboutthisoption.

Whenyoufinishingreadingtheinformation,pressOKtoclosetheMoreInformationwindow.3. PressOKtoresettheadvertisingidentifier,andthenpressOKagaintodismisstheverification

message.

Limiting ad tracking

YoucanlimitRoku’strackingofyourusagebehaviorbylimitingadtracking.Whenyoudo,yourTVwilldisplayadsthatarenotpersonalizedbasedonyourTV’sadvertisingidentifier.

Ifyoursearchresultwasanactor,director,orotheritemthatdoesnotrepresentasingleitemofcontent,you’llseeanotherlisttonarrowdownyoursearch.ContinuehighlightingresultsandpressingtheRIGHTarrowuntilyoufindasingle,viewablecontentitem.

• AnHDlogomeansthatthecontentisavailableinhigh-definition.• Thecheckedcircleadjacenttothetitlemeansyouhavealreadyaddedthestreamingchannel.

Whenyoufindastreamingchannelyouwanttoaddorlearnmoreabout,highlightitandpressOKtodisplaymoredetails.

• Ifthestreamingchannelyouareaddingisfree,youcanselectGotochanneltostartwatchingitimmediately.

ThereareseveralthingsyoucandotopersonalizeyourTV.

Rearrange tiles

WheneveryouaddaTVinputtile,it’saddedatthetopofyourHomescreen.WheneveryouaddanewstreamingchannelfromtheRokuChannelStore,it’saddedatthebottomofyourHomescreen.

YoucaneasilyrearrangetheorderofthetilesontheHomescreentosuityourviewingpreferences.Forexample,youmightwantAntennaTVtobethefirsttileinyourHomescreen.Butifyoumostlywatchonestreamingchannel,youmightwantitstiletobethefirstoneonyourHomescreen.

Rearrangingtilesiseasy:

1. FromtheHomescreen,highlightoneofthetilesyouwanttomove.2. PressÞtodisplayalistofoptionsforthetypeoftileyouselected.3. SelectMoveinputorMovechannel.Thelistofoptionsdisappearsandthehighlightedtile

showsarrowsindicatinghowitcanbemoved


4. Usethearrowbuttonstomovethehighlightedtiletoitsnewposition.Asyoumovethetile,itpushesothertilesoutofitsway.

5. PressOKtolockthetileintoitsnewposition.

6. RepeatthesestepstomoveothertilesuntilyouhavearrangedyourHomescreentoyourliking.

Edit broadcast TV channel lineup

WhenyousetuptheTVtunerasdescribedin“SettingupAntennaTV”onpage26,theTVaddsallthechannelswithgoodsignalsthatitcoulddetectinyourarea.It’slikelythatyounowhavemorechannelsthanyouwantinyourchannellist.

Toeditthechannellineup,fromtheHomescreen,navigatetoSettings>TVinputs>AntennaTV>Editchannellineup.You’llseeascreenlistingallofyourchannels.AdjacenttothelistofchannelsisaminiatureTVscreenplayingthehighlightedchannel’spictureandsound.

Highlighteachchannelyouwanttohide,andthenpressOKtohidethechannel.

Tip:Ifyouneedtoseeorhearthehighlightedchannel,waitacoupleofsecondsfortheTVtostartplayingthechannel’spictureandsound.Alsonotethatifyou’veenabledparentalcontrolsandtheprogramonthecurrentchannelisblocked,youwon’tseeapictureorhearsoundwhileeditingthechannellineup.

Rename inputs

RatherthantryingtorememberthatyourBlu-rayplayerisconnectedtoHDMI1andyourgameconsoleisconnectedtoHDMI3,youcanrenametheTVinputstomatchtheconnectedcomponent.

Note:Renaminganinputalsochangestheiconassociatedwithit.

Torenameaninput,youcaneither:

• HighlighttheinputtileintheHomescreen,andthenpressÞtodisplayalistofoptions.Fromthelistofoptions,selectRenameinput.Thenselectanewnameandicon.

or

• FromtheHomescreen,navigatetoSettings>TVinputs.OntheTVinputsscreen,selecttheinputyouwanttorename,selectRename,andthenchooseanewnameandiconfromtheprovidedlist.

Press toreturntotheHomescreen.Thenewnameandiconarenowineffect.

Remove unwanted tiles

It’seasytoremoveunusedTVinputsandunwantedchannelorapptiles.Forexample,ifyouneverusetheHDMI3input,orifyoudon’tliketheweatherappyouaddedfromtheRokuChannelStore,youcanremovethemfromyourHomescreen.

Note:YoualsocanremovetheAntennaTVtileifyouneverusetheTVtuner.ButbeawarethatremovingtheAntennaTVtilealsodeletesthebroadcastTVchannellist.You’llhavetosetuptheTVtuneragainnexttimeyouwanttoviewbroadcastTV.InstructionsforsettinguptheTVtunercanbefoundin“SettingupAntennaTV”onpage26.

• Toremoveanytile,highlighttheinputtileintheHomescreen,andthenpressÞtodisplayalistofoptions.Fromthelistofoptions,selectRemoveinput.Inthescreenthatfollows,confirmyouwanttoremovetheinput.

• Alternatively,toremoveaTVinputtilefromtheHomescreen,navigatetoSettings>TVinputs.OntheTVinputsscreen,selecttheinputyouwanttoremove,andthenselectRemove>Confirm.Thenpress toreturntotheHomescreen.

Change themes

AnotherwaytocustomizeyourTVistochangeitstheme.ThethemeestablishesthelookandfeeloftheTVthroughcolors,designs,andfonts.

Tip:ThemesareavailableonlywhenyourTVisconnectedtotheInternet.Somethemesrequirepayment.

Tochangethetheme,intheHomescreenmenunavigatetoSettings>Themes.IntheThemesscreen,choosefromthefollowingoptions:

• Mythemes–Highlightatheme,andthenpressOKtoswitchtothattheme.

• Customsettings–TurnFeaturedthemesonoroff.WhenFeaturedthemesison,theTVautomaticallyswitchestofeaturedthemes—likecertainholiday-inspiredthemes—foralimitedtimewheneverRokumakesthemavailable,andthenswitchesbacktoyourselectedthemewhenthefeaturedthemeexpires.Whenoff,theTValwaysusesyourselectedtheme.

Change sound effects volume

SoundeffectsarethenoisestheTVmakestoletyouknowitreceivedyourcommand.Youcanchangethevolumeofsoundeffectsorturnthemoff.

Toadjustthesoundeffectsvolume,intheHomescreenmenu,navigatetoSettings>Audio>Menuvolume.NavigatetotherightandthenchangethesettingtoHigh,Medium,Low,orOff.

Configure power settings

PowersettingsletyousetupyourTVsothatitturnsontothelocationyouchoose.PowersettingsalsohelpyourTVsaveenergybyautomaticallyturningitoffundercertainconditions.

Power on settings

PoweronsettingstelltheTVwhattodowhenyouturnonthepower.Toconfigurethepoweronsettings,fromtheHomescreenmenu,navigatetoSettings>System>Power>Poweron.Highlightthepoweronlocationfromthelist,andthenpressOKtoselectit.

Auto power savings

Tohelpyousaveenergy,yourTVcanautomaticallyturnitselfoffafteraperiodofinactivityoraperiodduringwhichnosignalhasbeendetected.Itisfactory-configuredtodobothofthesethings,butyoucanchangethesesettingsifneeded.

Toconfigureautomaticpoweroff,fromtheHomescreenmenunavigatetoSettings>System>Power>Autopowersavings.InthePowersettingsscreen,highlightthefollowingoptionsandpressOKtoturnthemonoroff:

• Reducepowerafter15minutes–Ifnovideooraudioactivityandnouserinteractionoccurfor15minutes,theTVautomaticallyturnsoffthescreenandsound.

• Turnoffafter4hours–Ifnovideooraudioactivityandnouserinteractionoccurfor4hours,theTVgoesintostandbymode.

Standby LED On/Off

Normally,thestatusLEDonthefrontofyourTVislitwhenevertheTVisinstandbymode.IfyoupreferthestatusLEDtonotbelitinstandbymode,youcanturnitoff.Todoso,fromtheHomescreen,navigatetoSettings>System>Power>StandbyLED,andthenselectOff.

Aftermakingthischange,thestatusLEDstillperformsallotherindicationfunctions.

Configure accessibility

AccessibilitysettingsenableuserswithvisionorhearingimpairmenttousetheTVmoreeffectively.AccessibilitysettingsarelocatedunderSettings>Accessibility.
