KLM UK Engineering Limited (KLMUKE) is an Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AF KLM E&M) Centre of Excellence supporting the entire aircraft lifecycle. Based at Norwich International Airport for over 40 years, KLMUKE has developed 5 modern Heavy Mainte-nance bays, a fully equipped supporting Workshop, industry leading Technical Training College and a specialist aircraft Dismantling and Recycling centre. At the heart of the facility, a workforce of over 400 highly skilled, motivated and experienced staff deliver a market leading product. Aircraft supported include Boeing 737 Classic and Next Generation, the Airbus A320 family, Fokker 70/100 series and BAe146/Avro RJ.

Technical Training College Our college delivers a variety of technical based training courses and qualifications. We offer: ♦ EASA Type / Basic Courses ♦ Compliance Training ♦ Aircraft Apprentice Scheme ♦ Degree Programmes in Aircraft Engineering ♦ Online Compliance and EASA Basic Training Working in partnership with Kingston University for over 10 years delivering Aircraft Engineering degree programmes, which incorporate EASA B1 courses. Students benefit from on-the-job training in the main facility including hangars and workshops. E-learning has also been developed for a variety of courses and qualifications, to allow individuals to learn at their own pace and in their own time.

KLMUKE Technical Training College is filled with both aviation and learning and development expertise. The design, development and delivery of courses is managed in-house by the team at the Technical Training College based in Norwich. The team are passionate about developing the engineers of the future within the aviation industry and provide support and guidance to our students throughout their study.

Knowledge and experience. Training based at our Technical Training College will provide students the opportunity to increase their knowledge and experience by putting theory into practice with our on-site facilities. Along with this, our instructors are extremely knowledgeable, being part of the aviation industry for many years they have the ability to share their experiences with students. Benefit from individual tutor support every step of the way. KLMUKE Instructors are available to support every student whilst undertaking the chosen course or qualification. Whether in the classroom, workshop or on-line, instructors provide guidance w h i l s t learning and revising. On-line tutorials for additional support. As part of our modular on-line training courses, we provide both live and recorded tutorials for students who would like additional support throughout their qualifi-cation. These could be module specific webinars or video tutorials which provide advice and guidance during exam preparation.

On-site library. Whilst studying at the Technical Training College, students can make use of the library to either borrow study material that relates to their course modules or for general study. Network with other students worldwide. Studying on-line doesn't have to be lonely. Forums are set up to enable students to chat and discuss modules with other students. Study anywhere, anytime. On-line content is available 24/7 on both PC and mobile devices. Courses are modular to enable students to learn as flexibly as they choose, tailoring a learning experience for each individual. ELCAS approved. Our Technical Training College is an approved ELCAS (Enhanced Learning Credits Administration System) provider and offers B1 Li-cence Basic Training to HM Forces personnel. Cred-its can be used towards this course by complet-ing an ELC claim form.

Summary of Courses and Qualifications

Aircraft Engineering BSc (Hons) - in partnership with Kingston University (includes full EASA B1.1)

Duration: 3 years full time Location: Kingston University (Year 1)and KLMUKE Tech-nical Training College (Year 2 & 3) OR KLMUKE Technical Training College (3 years) Course Overview: The programme is designed primarily to provide a higher education funded path to a career as a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer in the aviation industry. It also provides an alternative to the more traditional aeronautical engineering courses, for those wishing to seek employment in other areas of the aviation industry such as maintenance planning and control, product development, technical services and other support departments.

Initial and Continuation Training Fuel Tank Safety (Level 2) Human Factors Duration: 1 day per course Location: Norwich Classroom based initial and continuation training is available, to find our more information on these courses please see the on-line training section. EWIS EWIS initial and continuation training is also available online.

Aircraft Apprenticeship Scheme

Duration: 4 years Location: Norwich Course Overview: This course is designed to equip individuals with the academic and practical skills required to become an Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic. At the end of the 4 year programme, individuals can gain the following qualifications: ♦ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering

♦ City & Guilds 2675 in Aeronautical Engineering

♦ EASA Category A Licence (subject to achieving required pass mark)

EASA Category A Licence

Duration: 1 year Location: Norwich Course Overview: The programme is designed in accordance with EASA Part 66 to provide the relevant knowledge in aircraft maintenance to become a category A licence engineer following a period of maintenance experience. An aircraft maintenance licence permits the holder to issue certificates of release to service following minor scheduled line maintenance and simple defect rectifi-cation within the limits of tasks specifically endorsed on the authorisation. EASA Category B1.1 Licence (Delivered as part of the Aircraft Engineering BSc programme)

Aircraft Type Training - B737 300/400/500 Series (Classic) B1 Duration: 5 weeks (excluding aircraft visits) Location: Norwich (or alternative facility that meets UK CAA approval / requirements of Part 147) Course Overview: This course has been designed to provide B1 Mechanical technical knowledge relating to B737 300/400/500 series aircraft including descriptions, operation, component location, removal and installation and test procedures to Maintenance Manual Level. Procedures specific to the Boeing 737– 300/400/500 with CFM 56 Engines aircraft are also covered.

Aircraft Type Training - B737 Differences Classic to Next Generation B1 Duration: 2 weeks 2 days (excluding aircraft visits) Location: Norwich (or alternative facility that meets UK CAA approval / requirements of Part 147) Course Overview: The B1 Mechanical Differences Course is aimed specifically at Part 66 category B1 Aircraft Technicians who already hold or are trained on the Boeing 737 300/400/500 Series aircraft. The training will cover descriptions, operation, component location, removal and installation and test procedures to Maintenance Manual Level, specific to the Boeing 737 - 600/700/800/900 aircraft.

Aircraft Type Training - B737 600/700/800/900 Series (Next Generation) B1 Duration: 5 weeks (excluding aircraft visits) Location: Norwich (or alternative facility that meets UK CAA approval / requirements of Part 147) Course Overview: This course has been designed to provide B1 Mechanical technical knowledge relating to B737 600/700/800/900 series aircraft including descriptions, operation, component location, removal and installation and test procedures to Maintenance Manual Level. Procedures specific to the Boeing 737– 600/700/800/900 with CFM 56 Engines aircraft also covered.

Procedures specific to the Boeing 737– 300/400/500 with CFM 56 Engines aircraft are also covered.

Aircraft Type Training - B737 600/700/800/900 Series (Next Generation) B2 Duration: 4 weeks 3 days (excluding aircraft visits) Location: Norwich (or alternative facility that meets UK CAA approval / requirements of Part 147) Course Overview: This course has been designed to provide B2 Mechanical technical knowledge relating to B737 600/700/800/900 series aircraft including descriptions, operation, component location, removal and installation and test procedures to Maintenance Manual Level. Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS), Ini-tial & Continuation Training - Target Groups 1-8 Duration: Self Paced (1 day practical for Target Groups 1 & 2) Location: On-line (1 day practical based at KLMUKE Technical Training College, Norwich for Target Groups 1 & 2) Course Overview: This training is aimed at various target groups categorised 1 to 8 and is intended to ‘improve the airworthiness code for large airplanes and the requirements for continued airworthiness in the field of electrical wiring interconnection systems since failures in those systems have been indentified as causal factors in several incidents and accidents involving larger aircrafts’.

EASA Part 66 B1Training Duration: Self Paced Location: On-line Course Overview: This modular programme is designed to meet EASA Part 66 requirements. The programme provides the essential theoretical requirements to qualify as a B1 licence holder. The course is self paced with modules assessed by a combination of exams and essays (dependant on module). Full instructor support is provided to students via forums, email and online webinars

Human Factors - Initial and Continuation Training Duration: Self Paced Location: On-line Course Overview: This course is designed to provide Aircraft Maintenance Operatives with the fundamental human factors that should be considered and how to manage them. The course explores the implications of error, organisational safety culture, procedure, safety policy and methods of communication.

Fuel Tank Safety (Level 1&2) - Initial and Continuation Training Duration: Self Paced Location: On-line Course Overview: This course is designed to provide those who are involved in the inspection and maintenance of fuel systems. Individuals will learn the theory and practice the fundamentals of fuel tank safety in order to operate safely.
