Teaching Block 1 (Production Diary) UP725313
Chair Model:
This chair project was my first ever Maya experience , so it was quite an alien thing to me. We ware introduced to the basics controllers in class , so I tried to use them but it was still a pain. It took me a lot of time , in witch i went in to quite big range of emotions , lots of cups of tea and few meals . Eventually I get to that result , which is not really satisfying .
• Bouncing Ball
First time trying to animate on Maya … ended up with a bouncing ball , which is not really bouncing or a ball at all !
I tried using the principles from the 2D bouncing ball which i was doing at that time for the Animation Principles class , so i have watched big amount of videos related to balls on YouTube , that my “Recommended” section continues to propose me to watch videos with titles that include the words “ball” or “bounce ” . As i was not really a bestie with Maya at that time i ended up with that result…
• Bouncing Box
This was the original exercise , the result of which i am not satisfied with, but it turned out a bit better than my first attempt to animate on Maya , and it was a bit more easy because i was fallowing the tutorial on Moodle. This task intoruced me to to the basic rig controls, how to seta key poperly and to the graph editor wich i had a bit of troble understanding at the beginning.
• Anticipation Box
This task was interesting and quite fun and pain at the same time. I felt a bit more confident with it as i had learned few things from the bouncing box task . It took me ridicules amount of time to animate , but not as much if i had not fallowed the tutorial on Moodle.
• Overlapping Action Animation
I was kind of avoiding this task , because it was quite difficult for me , but at the edn it turned out ok.
• Chain LinkWe had to model, rig and animate it . At firs it did not went well as i did not model it properly and rigged properly , so i had to do it few times. There was some issue with the rotation of each component constructing the chain . Eventually , after the third try i got it right . Doing it more than once was a god experience as it made me remember the things and understand the better. I am happy with the final animation even though that there is always things to be touched.
• Antenna Box Animation
I liked that one , as it was fun drawing the secondary action first , it looked clearer and easier to animate that way.
• Retroactive Storyboard exercise
A great Retroactive Storyboard exercise , I really enjoyed it and it was really helpful . Made me concentrate and really look at the composition and the camera angle which are so import , as well as to look in depth in the line of action and to see how the consistency of the screen direction and space are preserved .
• Tailed Box Animation/Squirrel Project
This project was different as it combined and tested everything that we have been learning until now. We had to animate a secondary motion, combining the 2d principles and applying it in a 3d space. Controlling the NURBS Curves was difficult at first but after a while i got used to them. I had fun building the acorn, drawing the storyboard and trying to animate the camera.
