MEAN

You find the mean of a sequence of numbers by finding the average. To do that you add all of the numbers together, then divide by how many numbers there are.

Example: 25 13 7 2 14

Answer: 61/5 = 12.2

MEDIAN

• The median of a sequence of numbers is the number that falls in the middle, after they are put in numerical order.

• If there is an even amount of numbers(2, 4, 6,etc.) you take the two numbers that are in the middle, add them together and divide by 2 to get the median.

Example: 4 12 28 52 88

Example: 4 12 28 52 88 89

Answer: 28

Answer: 28 + 52 =80 80/2 = 40

MODE

• In a sequence of numbers, the mode is the number that shows up the most. If there are only one of each number, there is no mode.

Example: 2 54 10 2 13 2 5Answer: 2

No Mode Example: 2 32 4 7 9

RANGE

• To find the range of a sequence of numbers you take the lowest number and subtract it from the highest number.

Example: 15 8 22 3 64 64-3 =Answer: 61

MEDIAN, MEAN, MODE & RANGE SONG

Hey Diddle, Diddle, the median is the

middle,

You add and divide for the mean,

The mode is the one you see the most,

And the range is the difference between.
