Objectives

• Highlight GEO process in support of sustainable development. Present GEOSS objectives and actions

• Highlight capacity building strategy and priority capacity building activities at all scales (national, regional and global). Highlight successes and gaps

• Understand Donor priorities

• Engage Donor community in a sustained partnership in support of EO activities in developing countries

Current situation• The dates announced in GEO Plenary (April) have

been modified• New dates proposed: 11 -12 September• Initial proposal for venue: Seville (Spain)• Contacts with sponsors that could provide a free of

charge venue and support of some social activities, leaving other potential contributions (GEO, hosting country, others) available for travel funding

• Draft concept and initial invitees list prepared

Expected outcomes

• Consensus on high priority needs for funding.• Better understanding of donor priorities in terms of most

effective use of integrated Earth Observations• Identifying possible funding vehicles for high priority unmet

needs in Earth Observation capacity building that match donor needs.

• Establishing ongoing dialogue with Donor community to match longer term Capacity building priorities with Donor priorities
