TASK 5 – CLIENT PROJECT EVALUATION
John Greenwood – Rae
CONSTRAINTS FROM LEGAL, REGULATORY AND FINANCIAL
PERSPECTIVES
In terms of the project that I did for my client, I had not crossed any paths with legal constraints. This is because all of my sources that I have used mainly come from the SASH company. Only one of my images is used from other sources, but as it was a free-to-use photo, I did not cross the rules from copyright. Since copyright affects what I can use on my work, I have to be careful from what images I would be using or any sources from other websites on the internet as they could be copyright if I did not check with them. As I used a free image, and reliable sources on the internet including sources and information from the SASH company themselves (with their permission) I do not cross the copyright guidelines. For advertising restraints, I have not crossed any of the code practices, since I have used similar format & resources from the SASH company which they gave me permission to use. As I am only advertising the service provided by SASH, I have to be careful about misleading advertising, as this may be a problem which could affect my work. As I have included information about the service, quotes from previous SASH users & general information including how to contact SASH, I am not misleading the service in my product. This should not affect or come into contact with any of the advertising codes. Financial fees were not a problem for my project. As I didn’t have to spend any money on any of the resources I used, or to travel to the client, this will not affect me with any costs. However, if my client was to be based outside of York, I would have to spend a lot of money to go to the Headquarters, if they asked me to, & ALSO spend money to come back to.
I worked really well and strongly towards my time schedule for the project. As I only had 3 weeks to work towards my project, I created a schedule to make sure I complete certain tasks at specific times. I emailed my client stating that I would be sending my work at specific times. We agreed on having a specific times when sending my work to my client, which allowed me to further finish my work by certain timings. Once I had finished my work, I sent it to my client & as I have spare time
in case of feedback I receive to edit it, I have plenty of contingency time. If the project was a larger one, it may of affected my timescale in which I complete pieces of production work. Since it
was very specific from the client it also helped me to follow my schedule, which also helped to allow me to complete my work to a specific timescale. As seen below, my schedule shows what I planned to aim to do at certain times, but some things were different than my original plans so I
used less time than I needed.

Miss Out This Day ----------- Miss Out This Day -----------
Throughout the brochure that I made, as the client liked it to be in a similar
style to their other brochure, it contains wording which appeals
towards the audience and is comforting to read. I aimed to make sure that when I was producing the
brochure that I used language which would communicate the message to the
audience about Supported Lodgings and how the programme is a very
successful one in which helps many people. I received feedback from both my client & her colleagues, alongside
peers & people within my class at college. The feedback that was stated
by my peers & fellow classmates stated that the brochure looks great as it is, &
it communicates the message clearly by the information that is provided
alongside questions being answered & visual elements. The feedback that I
received from my client & her colleagues were to make some minor
adjustments to each side of my brochure, so that It suited them a little more, but all in all, they didn’t specify that the brochure didn’t fail to meet their aims in communicating their
message.
HOW WELL DID I MANAGE COMMUNICATIONS?
Email from my client with feedback from her and colleagues.
When I received the brief from my client, there was a very specific, detailed brief in which
stated what the client really wanted from me. As it was detailed and had certain guidelines for the brief, it allowed me to avoid doing any negotiating while working on the project as I
knew what I had signed up for when accepting the brief. I met the requirements of the brief as I already had enough information on the brief to clearly state what was wanted to be
included within the brochure. This then allowed me to have a much simpler task as the
information which was to be included was spoken about in the brief. I managed to
achieve the agreed outcomes as I created the brochure with the information provided in the brief and with further details which I thought
would work well coming from a young person’s perspective. As of this, the brochure was completed & sent to my client, in which I
gained feedback to change certain parts which they thought would be better with certain
information which they provided for me. In the end, I have added these additions in for my
client, in which completes their brief as everything stated within it is included within
the brochure, and it also completes the agreed outcomes between us for what I took on to do
as a task, and what the client wanted back from me in the product.
HOW DID I MEET REQUIREMENTS OF THE BRIEF & ACHIEVE THE AGREED
OUTCOMES?
The brief that I had received from my client. It clearly states In which what she would like included within the brochure.
Here in the brief that I received from SASH, stating what they would like in the product, & what kind of scheme to follow.
As it was restricted to be in the same layout as their Nightstop brochure, I
followed through the brief, sending over drafts to make sure this is what they were wanting. The first image at the top is my
work compared to their Nightstop brochure. As the brief stated they wanted certain colour schemes and layout, I have
copied them. I have used the correct colouring, font sizes & fonts which were
provided by SASH themselves. I continued to keep the same front cover design for the brochure by adding a lively, vibrant
image of a living room. This helps promote the brochure as being friendly,
which is what the client wanted to brochure to portray as, to their audience. I have also kept similar style for the back
cover and page 5, in which the client stated they wanted certain improvements
for these pages after my drafts, & provided me with quotes and information
to add onto it.
HOW DID I MEET REQUIREMENTS OF THE BRIEF & ACHIEVE THE AGREED
OUTCOMES? (CONTINUED)
As for the inside of the brochure, I have also continued with a similar
layout to their Nightstop brochure. I was provided with some FAQ’s to use
with answers from my client, but except from this, I have managed to produce a very similar layout in a
different way so it is unique. I have also kept their colour schemes
throughout the brochure so that it is symmetrical to their other brochure,
& I have also used the same fonts throughout so that the brochures look
identical to each other. As I have followed the brief and the
recommendations from the client through feedback, I generated a
brochure which is what they asked for. Similar layouts to their previous
brochure, same colour schemes & the key factors they pointed out in the brief that they wanted adding in (FAQ’s, aiming for their target
audience, a friendly inviting feel to the brochure to appeal to audience).
HOW DID I MEET REQUIREMENTS OF THE BRIEF & ACHIEVE THE AGREED
OUTCOMES? (CONTINUED)
In terms of my client project, I have learned many different things and new skills to help with my future. One thing would be improved work quality. As I have done my client project, my artwork & gaining more knowledge and more skills from other people have drastically improved. I have learned
more about clients & what kind of briefs they could possibly have to offer you for a job. As there are multiple different types of brief, I can search for
jobs which have briefs which suit me, which will help me decide on what kind of jobs to take in which can work for me. I also learned that
communication is a key factor in terms of your client. If there is not communication within the project then things will either be done to a
standard which the client is not happy with, or you may not get certain sources of work to with. Lucky enough, the communication with my client in my project was strong. Whenever there were parts of the project that were either wrong or not appealing, I was told in a polite manor and asked if I
could just tweak these parts. As the brief I worked with was a very specific brief, I didn’t really have room to negotiate or have freedom with my
project, but it helped me create a product in which the client likes. This helps for future employment for jobs as I have more confidence in talking to
a client, asking for help, feedback & other sources to help with the work. Learning new things helps me to be more suitable for the industry as I am
gaining more knowledge and experience which will help with future employers & companies. It allows me to be stronger as a person which can help me be more confident to try get the brief from a client. This will help
appeal to the client as it will portray me as a hard working individual who is determined to complete the brief to the best that I can. I have also learned
new techniques & abilities in Adobe Photoshop during this project, as I already familiarised with it, I have further more advanced my skillset &
learned even more new things. For example, I have further progressed by ability to be more creative when working with Photoshop. This is from
choosing fonts to suit the kind of product I am making, all the way to colour schemes which work well and compliment each other. I have also learned
more about the tool system in Photoshop, in which there are many ways to use one tool for different jobs. This helps me have a better understand of the software and also improves chances for potential employment if it is
revolving around Photoshop editing. My skillset has further increased to be stronger as I now have experience in working for a client & meeting specific target deadlines for them, whilst getting feedback from them to improve the
product to what they want it to look like. I have also developed more communications & understanding skills working with my client, as I have to
understand their desired needs for the product. If I did not listen or acknowledge what they were asking for, then the product & brief would
have been wasted.
WHAT DID I LEARN TO HELP WITH FUTURE TASKS?
Finished product above to the client’s specific brief. There were additional comments & requirements via email with the client, which have also been added in.
