task 10

The title of the music magazine I wish to produce is ‘speaker’ I chose this word as it relates to the way people listen to music as well as related to speaking which the artists and interviewers would so in the interviews that audience are going to read. The genre my music magazine will focus on is Hip Hop music, I chose hip hop music as it is possibly one of the most modern and popular genres of music therefore the magazine will be appealing to a wider range of audiences. Although the main target audience is people aged between 15 and early 20s this is because they are the ages that people tend to take a large interest in music so will therefore be interested in buying the magazine. The front page will have a large image of the ‘big’ artist being interviewed in the centre third as it will stand out, then framing the main image will be the masthead and all the cover lines. The main colours on the cover will be Yellows and Purples and Black as during my quantative research I found out people find these 3 colours to associate with Hip Hop music the most. The three colours will also be repeated throughout the rest of the magazine to give the magazine its own colour scheme that would possibly be memorable to the audience to make the magazine unique. The contents page will have a large header at the top saying ‘contents’ in the same font that the front the masthead of the cover is in, the text with the information on what it appearing in the magazine will be on the far right third as it will attract the audiences eyes because it’s using the rule of thirds and the remaining space on the page will be taken up with images, 2 3 of the artists that will be in the magazine. The double page will have one of the pages taken up by an image of the Artist being interviewed, one third of the right hand page taken up by the title and the remaining two thirds taken up by text. I chose to do this as many other magazines do follow a similar style and through my research I found out people prefer to have less text which just gives them the information they need to know about the artist rather than lots of information that isn’t really needed and then they like to see images. My main ideas about the photos are that the people that are having their photos taken will be wearing simple high street fashion and look rather average, as this is how a lot of Hip Hop artists to tend to dress, fashionable but not over the top and do still look like people you wouldn’t class as famous. I also want them to be wearing high street fashion as this is another result I got from my research. They will be posing with smiles and standing up straight and tell maybe with a few hand gestures if needed.
