Targets and Goals

• Targets and goals are set for the following:

– Nuclear Events

– Average cumulative individual dose (mSv per person) for 12 months

– Number of persons who received a dose above 4 mSv (the ALARA goal)

– Disabling injury incidence rate (DIIR)

– Total Injury Rate (TIR)

– Maximum man-hours worked without a DI

– Events with cost (EWC)

– Events without loss (EWL)

– Environmental Event in Violation (EE (in V))

– Environmental Event no Violation (EE (no V))

– Public Dose

Targets and Goals

• Factors taken into account:

– 18 DIs ≈ DIIR of 1.00 (DIIR at end March 2012 = 0,99 for 12 month moving

average, (the < 0.50 for the DIIR in the agreed targets for 2012/ 2013

correspond to 9 DIs.)

– 85% of last 3 financial years' average

– 1.2 x the average of last 3 financial years (Max hours worked without DI)

– Same approach as for Worker ALARA is followed, 20% of dose limit (20% of

public dose limit 250 µSv = 50 µSv)

– 600 Minor incidents (near misses) have the potential of 1 DI occurring.

12

Page 13: TARGETS AND GOALS - Nucleus...Targets and Goals • Factors taken into account: – 18 DIs ≈ DIIR of 1.00 (DIIR at end March 2012 = 0,99 for 12 month moving average, (the < 0.50

Summary

• Necsa is a very complex site

• Advisable to keep the Targets and goals as simple as possible

• From the Necsa site targets and goals, every facility is to derive at

facility specific targets and goals as to ensure that Necsa will comply

with the set site targets and goals

13
