Autocratic Managers

• Manager makes all decisions. Advantages:– Quick decisions / Efficient

Disadvantages: – Less input/ideas– May cause lack of motivation

• Practical in stressful times or emergencies

Democratic Managers

• Allows employees to take part in decision making.

Advantages:– Increase in job satisfaction – Wide range of expertise

Disadvantages:– Slow decision making process– Decisions may not be best for the business

• Practical for solving complex problems

Laissez-faire Managers

• Employees make their own decisions• “Hands-off” approachAdvantages: – Employees take pride in work – High morale

Disadvantages:– Employees may be working against company goals

• Effective with highly skilled or educated employees
