Rhythm Feet II begins with a family presentation of the history of tap dance at the Hudson Area Library, on Saturday, April 4, at 1:30pm.tap classes at the Hudson Opera House. Dance artist Stefanie Weber will ill lead the presentation and include a demonstration of tap dance.Following the history presentation, a Monday and Wednesday series of tap classes will take place at the Hudson Opera House, beginning April 6 -29th, 2015. Class 1: 4:00pm-5:15pm Ages: 7 – 10 years, and Class II: 5:15pm-6:15pm Ages: 11-18 years, adults welcome. Wear comfortable clothing, hard sole shoes, sneakers or tap shoes. Some tap shoes will be available, sizes are limited All tap classes are free to all participants. Stefanie Weber is an action-based dance artist who specializes in Rhythm Tap Dance and Physical Poetry, whose extensive training includes studying under the direction of masters Jimmy Slyde and Dianne Walker. Stefanie is the founder and director of They Dance For Rain in Nairobi, Kenya and the Creatures of Habitat Physical Poetry Public Performance Project in the U.S. She works with numerous organizations and performing arts collaborators as a dance and movement educator, performer, choreographer and artist. On Saturdays April 11 and May 9, Kati Garcia-Renart returns to Rhythm Feet with two Intermediate level flamenco dance workshops, 10 am - 2:00 pm, at Kaatsbaan International Dance Center in Tivoli. Kati Garcia-Renart is a graduate of Bard College where she majored in dance and was introduced to flamenco by Aileen Passloff. Kati spent nine years in Madrid, Spain, studying and performing flamenco as well as modern dance at venues including The Centro Cultural de la Villa. She has taught and performed extensively on the west coast at The Raymond Kabbaz in Los Angeles and local audiences have enjoyed her performances at Bard College, Vassar College and at the Rhinebeck Performing Arts Center. Workshop participants are encouraged to bring a bag lunch. A fee of $35 covers each individual. Enrollment is limited, so please register early at Operation Unite, 518 828-3612. Tap and flamenco come together on Sunday, May 3 in a performance concert at Columbia Greene Community College, featuring flamenco artist, Isabel del Dia, tap artist Stefanie Weber and several musicians . Curtain is at 7:00pm and admission is free. The Hudson Area Library is located at 400 State Street, the Hudson Opera House is located at 327 Warren Street, Hudson.
