produce benefit and may be consumed or made unavailable

- Resources should be commensurate with needs. If not, maximum utilization of limited resources must be ensured.

- In the discussion of the teacher’s role, one of his primary functions is to make use of the resources of the guidance program.

- Teachers must keep the available resources in mind and take into account school realities and priorities.

AMONG THESE RESOURCES ARE THE FOLLOWING:

A. Specialist- They act as consultants

who are responsible in educating teachers and other staff of the school.

B. The Psychologist- The teacher cooperates

with the psychologist by supplying information about the student who is referred for a psychological treatment.

C. The School Nurse and the Doctor

- There are cases wherein the students need proper physical care, have uncorrected remedial impairments, unnecessarily exposed to infections in and out of school. Hence, much assistance is expected from the nurse or the doctor of the school.

D. The Psychiatrist

- The psychiatrist is of great assistance in detecting cases of incipient mental and emotional illness and thus preventing serious consequences to the individual and to society. 

E. The Vocational Expert

- The vocational expert plays the role in the services included in the guidance program such as career orientation and vocational guidance.

F. The Visiting Teacher

- The visiting teacher is a trained social worker attached to a school to help the latter and the home in dealing with the problems of children.

G. The School Librarian- From the librarian, the teacher can obtain professional books such on guidance and counseling, on home room organization, student councils, books and pamphlets giving occupational information and reading and studying difficulties.

H. Community and Parents- The community is the most important resource for guidance. There are number of ways in which teachers can find out about the community needs and resources for guidance. If time permits, the teacher can undertake family surveys to gain more understanding of the children.
