“I don’t think about the work in generalterms. I’m too preoccupied at any one timewith thinking about specific projects. Butsince you ask, I can say what the principalissues in designing album covers are:crossing the durational bridge (music issequential, note after note, visual design isall present at the same time);provoking a second glance - inviting theviewer to look again as she/he might listenagain (perpetrated ambiguity );reflecting the scale: music is large, coversare small, and getting smaller, but ideas andstories can be big despite being presented insmall format;and hinting - not saying something toospecific, because music means differentthings to different folk.
I see our job principally as translators, translating an audio event (the album) into avisual event (the cover).”

TAKEN BY STORM
This latest selection of the work of Storm Thorgerson comprisesfine art prints, either silkscreen or giclée, as big and bold as themusic they seek to represent.
In the digital age of downloads and ipods, album covers have beenrelegated in size and relevance, may be facing extinction.
Included are images for bands such as Led Zeppelin, Muse, PinkFloyd, Peter Gabriel, The Mars Volta, The Cranberries, Biffy Clyro,10cc, Ian Dury, Offspring, Yes - and many others.
The prints are derived from original artworks, unencumbered bylogos, legal lines, or cat numbers. They are severely limited innumber and are all signed by the artist.
