takeCHARGE Insulation Rebate Program

To help you take advantage of the benefits of proper insulation in your home, takeCHARGE offers qualifying homeowners rebates, based on the R-value of the insulation you install.

Basement and Crawl Space Walls: Insulate an area of 1,000 square feet to an R-12 and you will get a $240 rebate. Adding even more insulation to R-20 and you’ll get $400 back!

Attics: Adding R-20 of insulation to a 1,000 square foot attic (to a maximum total of R-40) and you’ll receive a rebate of $200.

Is my Home Eligible?

To qualify for the takeCHARGE Insulation Rebate Program:

- You are the homeowner and the home has an active electricity account. - Your home is detached, semi-detached or mobile/modular on a permanent foundation and intended as a residence.

- Your primary source of heat is electric or if an additional heating source is used that the home has a minimum annual electricity usage of 15,000 kilowatt hours.

How do I receive my takeCHARGE Insulation Rebate?

1. Purchase and install your insulation

- Make sure you choose CSA approved insulation, with a verifiable R-value, that meets the following requirements:

a. Basement and Crawl Space Walls: Insulate to a minimum R-12. Rebates are eligible up to R-20.

or

Basement and Crawl Space Ceilings: Insulate to R-20.

b. Attics: Insulate to a minimum of R-32. Rebates are eligible up to R-40.

- Remember to save your original receipts, as they need to be submitted along with the application form to process your rebate.

2. Complete the Insulation Rebate application form

- Download and print the form at takechargenl.ca or call Newfoundland Power at 1-800-663-2802 or Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro at 1-888-737-1296.

3. Submit your application and receive your rebate

- Submit your signed Insulation Rebate application form to your electricity provider along with your original receipts for the purchase of your insulation material.

- You should receive your rebate as a credit on your electricity bill within eight weeks. Your electricity provider may conduct a post-installation inspection any time after receipt of the rebate application.
