Membership, governance and quality labelcurrenT siTuaTionSince its creation as a youth organization, EPTO’s Boards and coordinators were pointing their wish to review the structure of the organization:

• for being based on youth organizations or institutions working with youth (and not based on local/national coordination basis anymore)• for moving step-by-step to a complete youth-led organization• for reducing confusion about the structure• for integrating the ownership and responsibility for EPTO by the peer trainers in the formalized structural set up of the organisation

Following this purpose, the coordinators during the last COCO meeting in Rotterdam in 2010 and the EPTO Board decided to elaborate a new Strategic Plan and to propose a new membership struc-ture.

As part of this on-going process, the Board defined the Vision of the World EPTO would like to contribute with:

“People enjoy learning from each other how to embrace their differences and realize their unique potential.”

Linked to this Vision, the Purpose of the organization has been reviewed and formulated as such:

“For young people in europe to embrace their differences and realize their unique potential, ePTo promotes and develops peer training.”

VaLuesEPTO’s core value is to trust in young people. Young people have a unique potential. They have the abilities and power to teach and learn from each other to create inclusive societies.Important values in our work are transparency, openness, responsibility and empathy.

We thereby mean:• Our work and organisational structure are transparent. Shared roles and responsibilities are clear for everyone.• We are open and curious about the people we are working with, the ongoing learning process and the future. We engage with the people and organisations we meet and want to learn from

each other.• We take responsibility and show commitment to our vision.• We accept and embrace people and organisations with all their differences. It’s important for us to understand them in order to support them in their situation.
