Assistant Power Dispatcher work requires familiarity with DC and AC theory, electrical generation, transmission and distribution principles, hazards and safety standards and procedures associated with work around generation, transmission and distribution equipment. The Assistant Power Dispatcher is familiar with the tools, materials, equipment and standards used in Seattle City Light's power system. They are knowledgeable about the common causes of electrical transmission, distribution and service problems as well as residential wiring practices.

The work requires the ability to use computer monitoring systems, maintain accurate and detailed records, and read and update maps and technical drawings related to utility systems. The work requires the ability to think clearly and make sound judgments under difficult conditions, accurately analyze and identify problems in the face of conflicting and incomplete information, and appropriately prioritize the handling of problems and objectives.

Assistant Power Dispatchers learn and follow specific safety and technical guidelines and procedures, and take most actions under the direct supervision of a higher level Dispatcher. As training progresses, there are increasing opportunities for formulating judgments in the application of guidelines to resolve problems and to take actions involving crew safety and power restoration.

Assistant Power Dispatchers coordinate work as directed and authorized by higher level Dispatchers and with customer service, distribution, maintenance and repair personnel within City Light, as well as outside utility staff as necessary to exchange information.

This position will report to the Chief Power Dispatcher.Job Responsibilities:

Under close supervision of Power Dispatchers, the Assistant Power Dispatcher will learn all aspects of the direction and control of the distribution of electrical power systems up through 34 kV.

The Assistant Power Dispatcher will learn fundamentals of the distribution system, safe operating techniques and normal emergency operations. This includes the use of the Energy Management System (EMS), the Outage Management System, detailed mapping skills and telephone and two-way radio communication with crews and customers.

Position Description:Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is seeking a proven leader whose work has demonstrated a commitment to efficient and forward-looking utility services to serve as the Drainage and Wastewater (DWW) Planning and Program Management Division Director. The leader of this dynamic and complex line of business will help set the policy direction for the next decade, comply with negotiated State and Federal regulatory requirements, and lead staff in efficiently and effectively delivering service to a varied customer base of individual residents and businesses.

The Division Director ensures Drainage and Wastewater Line of Business (DWW-LOB) levels of service promote public health and safety in alignment with SPU's Strategic Business Plan. Accountability includes comprehensive planning that insures the resiliency of the Drainage and Wastewater system to meet operational service levels, regulatory compliance, population growth, development needs and environmental impacts of climate change. DoIT is focused on developing enterprise-grade, scalable, sustainable, solutions that enable City departments to provide effective and efficient services to their constituents.Job Responsibilities:Position reports to DoIT's Enterprise Computing Manager.• Manage and administer servers providing services to external and internal customers.• 2nd & 3rd tier direct technical support for computer systems across City.• Participate in high visibility projects impacting both external and internal customers Citywide.• Develop technical requirements from business requirements.• Provide consultation regarding architecture, design, hardware, application performance and security.• Troubleshoot and resolve service interruptions.• Implement system administration tools.• Analyze, report and provide recommendations on performance and capacity.• Schedule and install software patches, upgrades and security fixes on all supported servers, including Microsoft Windows servers, IIS, VMware and Configuration Manager.• Create and maintain system documentation.• Perform various windows admin assignments or projects commensurate to professional level as assigned.Qualifications:NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for the required qualifications except where specifically noted.• Five years' experience architecting, installing, configuring, and administering Windows systems (must include Windows 2008 and 2012 Server operating systems); as well as installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Intel-based hardware and software in an enterprise environment.• BS degree in Computer Science or Engineering or closely related field, or additional work experience.• 4 years' experience in configuring and administering the following Microsoft technologies; AD, AD in a multi-forest environment, ADFS, FIM, Lync 2013, EXO, EAS.• 4 years' experience in PowerShell Scripting and SQL Queries.• Demonstrated experience supporting TCP/IP networking, security, DNS, ARS.• Demonstrated experience supporting SCOM 2012 and SCCM 2012.• Configuring and managing MS SQL 2008 & 2012.• Strong troubleshooting skills using proactive and reactive methodologies.• Basic project management skills - developing plans, task lists, schedules, communications.• Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, at both a technical and non-technical level.• Solid experience with enterprise security practices and tools.• Must be willing to participate in 24/7 on-call support rotation.• Ability to work in fast-paced, high stress environment, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.• Ability to lift 40 lbs.NOTE: Submit cover letter & resume along with NeoGov application.NOTE: Employment contingent upon successful completion of comprehensive criminal background investigation.
