Session 2

The Purpose of T4T is to Train Trainers!

1. How are You Doing?

Session 2:

2. Let’s Worship

Which Chapter of the Bible did you read this morning?

How many have you placed on your List of People Away from God?

Get into groups of two or three and each practice telling your story and bridge into the gospel.

3. Accountability for Session #2

Each stand and briefly tell us your story

Ask each team member to tell:

4. Vision Casting:

To Often, we get discouraged when we fail to evangelize

people and make Disciples of Christ out of them!

That will happen if we do not wait upon and depend upon being

empowered by the Holy Spirit!

This is why it is necessary to practice the disciplines of

daily Bible study and prayer.

You Can’t make Disciples of Christ by yourself!

But You are not by yourself!

5. Short Discipleship Lesson

The Church

Jesus said, “I will build My Church!” – Matthew 16:18

We are to: Go and make disciples of all nations, and

teach them to obey all that He has taught us. Matthew 28:19-20

Unfortunately, we have attempted to do His job and have

failed to obey our commission!

The Church;

What is it?Before the Church (Old Testament Times), Men Came to God to Worship and Ask

for Forgiveness through a Priest. A Curtain Separated Men from God in the Temple. When Jesus was Crucified the Curtain was torn from Top to Bottom by God.

The Church was formed so that man could come directly to God rather than continueapproaching Him through a Priest.

Matt 27: 45, 50 - 51

Matthew 27: 45, 50 - 51

From the sixth hour to the ninth hour darkness came over all the land. About the ninth hour Jesus cried our in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabach-thani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He gave up His spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

This is what is so significant about Jesus’ execution. Holy God could not continue His close fellowship with His son due to our sins being on him.

The Old Testament practice was for a separating curtain to remain between God and the Hebrew people. Only the High Priest could go behind the temple curtain once a year to offer prayers on behalf of the people and hear from God. With the removal of the curtain, we can all now approach God without a priest.

Jesus StartedThe Church

He Is The Head of the Church

Matt 16: 18

Col 1: 18

Matthew 16: 18

And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

Colossians 1: 18

And He is the Head of the body, the Church; He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything He might have supremacy.

Peter had spoken from heavenly inspiration and it was from this inspiration that Christ built the Church. The Church shall prevail against the forces of evil (Hades).

Christ is the Head of the Church which is His body on Earth.

The Church Was Born

All Numbers are in Days

The Church Is a Groupof Baptized Believers

They Have Agreed ToServe Together in

Faith and Fellowship

New Churches should grow out of New Groups of Christians meeting

in homes or public places.

New land and buildings are not needed for New churches!

Trained theologians are not needed for New churches!

Lots of funding is not needed for New Churches!

Leadership for New Churches should be raised up from members of New Christian Groups!

Christ said, “I will build My Church!”

Your Commission is to Go, Make Disciples, and Teach

them to OBEY All that Christ has taught you.

And you must not attempt this alone!

Each Member [of His Body]

Has Been Gifted to Minister

Each member has been gifted to carry out the functions of the Body.If each member does not carry out his/her function, then the Church

will not accomplish what God has planned through the Church

Ephesians 4: 7 – 8

I Cor 12: 11- 13

I Corinthians 12: 11 – 13

All these are the work of the one and same Spirit, and He gives them (gifts) to each one, just as He determines. The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptized (enveloped) by one Spirit into one body

Ephesians 4: 11 - 13

It was He who gave some (gifts) to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

The Greek WordFor Church IsEKKLESIA

“Called Out Ones”

Separated From the World SystemWe are not to be entangled in the affairs of this World but

to be a separated people that obey the Great Shepherd rather than the god of this world!

The True Church Is The Bodyof Jesus Christ on Earth

Through Which He Extends His Influence

Jesus is Depending Upon The Church to Continue the Ministry He Started.

We Are His Ambassadors On Earth

Eph 3: 10 – 11

II Cor 5: 20

II Corinthians 5: 20

We are therefore Christ’s Ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

Ephesians 3: 10 – 11

His intent was that now, through the Church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms according to His eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.

You Are the Body of ChristNow You Are the Body of Christ and Each One of You Is A Part (Member) of It.

1 Corinthians 12:27Romans 12: 3 - 13

Christ is the Head

I Am

Romans 12: 3 – 6

Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.

God is a God of diversity. No two humans are exactly alike. No two Churches are alike.

He has purposely given a variety of Spiritual Gifts so that we will perform different functions through the Church.

I Corinthians 12: 27

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

6. Practice

Assemble into groups of 2 or 3

If they have Bibles, turn to Acts 1:8. Discuss the Vision of being empowered by the Holy Spirit to be Witnesses for Christ

Have each tell their story and their bridge to the Gospel

What will you do if the one you witness to says YES?

7. Goal Setting for Session # 2

Review your list of people that are away from God

Add more names that the Holy Spirit brings to your mind.

Pray for opportunities to tell them your story and bridge to the gospel

Mark 5 names that you will witness to in your community.
