JESS PETHYBRIDGE: Where are you now and what are you doing? Currently I am in Banff, Canada snowboarding and playing in the snow!

What is your favorite memory from camp last summer? My favorite memory of camp is being White team Advisor and having the best 3 days running around and having fun and cheering on an incredible bunch of girls!

Because of camp, I am living in Canada with a house full of my camp family killing time before we head back for another memorable summer.

JESS OLIVER-BENNETTS: Where are you now and what are you doing? I’m currently in Melbourne, Australia, and right now I am on vacation with my family. Over the new year holiday period we are taking a trip along the Victorian coast; a seven hour drive from the city centre.

What is your favorite memory from camp last summer? My favorite memory from camp last summer was seeing a Mohawk camper named Aaron Kates record a song in his beat production class that was as good as any song on commercial radio. He did it in under two hours with no assistance, I was so impressed and so jealous!

Because of camp, I joined an amateur ten pin bowling league. I went bowling when I was a kid and I loved it, but I never really did it again as an adult, until camp. We had numerous trips to the Airway Fun Center with my buncle cabin and my Grove cabins, and I had so much fun bowling with the kids at camp that I decided to join a league once I came home.

BLAKE COOPER: Where are you now and what are you doing? I’m currently working for Fernie Alpine Resort in British Columbia, Canada. My job as Saftey Officer consists of checking for hazards around the ski resort to make it safer for guests, best thing, I get paid to snowboard everyday!!

What is your favorite memory from camp last summer? My favorite memory from last summer was Color Days and the entire last week with my campers! Hard to beat days on the ski dock either!

Because of camp, I am happy with the little things and the moments we can share with each other, love the life you live.

Q. How do I pick my schedule?A. Before arriving at camp, you will receive in the mail an activity selection form. With over 45 land and water activities to choose from, you will customize your program based on your interests! We have an A and B Day schedule, allowing you to develop your skills in 6-10 different activities. You may select one activity to “MAJOR” in and take every day at camp. We encourage you to try new things!

Q. What does a typical day at camp look like?

Our camp values are optimism, independence, citizenship, creativity, teamwork, friendship, and resilience. At camp, we recognize you when you cheer up a homesick camper and when you work together with your cabin building a fire for Cabin Cookout. 7:15 pm Every night at camp we do a different fun evening program. After evening program everyone has a healthy snack (we call a “night bite”), and then campers go back to their cabins.

This past summer was my first year at Lake of the Woods. Although I went to the Glen for 2 summers before, I thought this was a whole new experience. I only knew my friend Ryan from school. In Brandeis cabin, I made so many new friends and even more memories. I took a variety of activities. My favorites were community service, journalism, and waterskiing. My favorite field trips include the dunes and the zoo. I was on gold for color days and I loved the endless challenges and screaming until we lost our voices. Evening programs are one of my favorite parts of camp. I never thought that on the first day I was shy and afraid and on the last day I was crying about having to leave. I will be coming back next summer LWC! - Dani F.

SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education) is a nonprofit organization that raises money to send less fortunate children to not-for-profit camps throughout the Midwest. In 2007, DAYNA HARDIN and DANA KITE, along with other camp directors in the Midwest partnered with SCOPE New York to launch SCOPE-MIDWEST in an effort to provide a summer camp experience for children in our communities. Our campers and many of our camp families have volunteered, raised money, and promoted events for SCOPE-Midwest for many years. Please join us this Spring for our annual SCOPE Benefit.
