2. Introduction of the project / Background information.

(i) Identification of project proponent

Mr. Jigneshbhai Patel is 33 years old & he is B.Com. Graduate. Nowadays he is

one of the partners of M/s. Angel Industries.

(ii) Brief description of nature of the project.

It is a small scale project for production of resin which is used for making

laminated sheets.

(iii) Need for the project and its importance to the country and or region.

Formaldehyde resins are used predominantly in the laminated sheet industry as

adhesives. Growth of these resins is strongly correlated to

construction/remodeling activity (which accounts for over 50% of

consumption), and to a lesser degree, to the automotive industry.

The proposed products like Resins (Melamine Formaldehyde, Urea

Formaldehyde and Phenol Formaldehyde) mainly used to produce laminated

sheets. These sheets have good market demand to develop the home and office

for furniture.

(iv) Demand-Supply Gap.

The average production of decorative laminates has crossed approximately 130

million sheets inclusive of all thicknesses but the gap between installed capacity

and demand is growing bigger. During FY 2011-2012 phases that gap narrowed

with sudden demand in lower thickness segment but later capacities came in

place and the Decorative laminate market became a pressure driven market. The

below graph shows the gap which indicates more supply means pressure on

pricing, profits etc. It is caution for any new comer that if he enters, he should be

prepared for "More investments, more efforts and a long wait for margins".

The burgeoning market demands of urban and semi-urban India are estimated at

Rs 5,00,000 Crore. The demand-supply gap has already attracted foreign players

to India; and the e-retailing boom offers immense business opportunities. But a

mere 15% of India's woodworking industry is organized. Its semi-skilled

carpenters, self-styled interior decorators and small-scale local manufacturers

will need to be trained and organized to meet future market demands and

exploit business opportunities.

(v) Imports v/s. Indigenous production.

Indian market is open and big that is why every kind of import is booming.

Indian plywood and panel trade has become global place as the consumption of

different imported ply panels are on the rise. Unlike before Indians are now

welcomed by plywood manufacturer of china. Earlier India was a self dependent

country for commercial or high quality plywood, but sharp drop in domestic

manufacturing output has resulted in material sourcing from countries like

Burma, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Vietnam etc. Now Indian plywood market is

somehow curtailed or competed by incoming panel products from China. Be it

film face, decorative, Laminate or MR plywood everything is now being imported

partially or more and is sold. Indian industrialist must understand the fact that

it’s no more a regional shift, it is a global shift. Indian technology should be

upgraded an updated at par with international standards.

The working environment in India has changed tremendously. Earlier the trade

fairs were hardly participated by foreign timber, lumber and plywood

manufacturing companies where as now it is flooded with global suppliers.

(vi) Export Possibility.

We will manufacture Resin for captive consumption and sale purpose also. Resin

is an intermediate product for manufacturing of laminated sheets. Liquid resins

are quite expensive for export. So we have only local sale market for distribution.

(vii) Employment Generation (Direct and Indirect) due to the project.

This project will provide direct employment to 150 people in proposed resin

unit whereas it will provide employment to many others indirectly.

3. Project Description

(i) Type of project including interlinked and interdependent projects.

Mainly Resins (Melamine Formaldehyde, Urea Formaldehyde and Phenol

Formaldehyde) are used in production of Laminated sheets. Industry will utilize

resins for captive consumption as well as for sale purpose.

major area of Surendranagar district and in few area of Ahmedabad and Patan

district. There are 'moderately deep' soils in few area of Surendranagar, Patan

and Ahmedabad district and in North-East of Sabarkantha district. There are

'very shallow' to 'shallow' soil in North-East part (Sabarkantha district) and

South West (Surendranagar district) part of the region. Rock outcrops are also

found in some part of the region especially in North-East (Banaskantha and

Sabarkantha district) & South - West (Surendranagar District) of the region.

A major texture of the soil in the region is 'Loamy'. However, in South-West part

(in Ahmedabad and Surendranagar district) a soil texture in few area is found to

be 'Clayey'. It is also 'Sandy' soil in some area of the Northern part (Banaskantha

district) of the region.

Major area of the region is having 'Well’ drained soil. However, in some area of

region especially in central part (Adjoining area of Mehsana, Sabarkantha and

Gandhinagar district.) and eastern part of Banaskantha and Western part of

Surendranagar district is representing 'Some what excessively' drained soil. A

very few area of southern part of the region (Adjoining area of Ahmedabad and

Surendranagar district) and in Western part (Patan district) is showing

'moderately well' drained soil.

In few area of middle part of Ahmedabad district and Eastern part of

Surendranagar district is 'Slightly Saline'. A considerable area of Eastern part of

Patan and Western part of Mahesana, a southern part of Ahmedabad district and

North-West part of Banaskantha district is representing 'Moderate’ salinity of the

soil. ‘Strongly’ saline soil is observed in South-West part of Banaskantha and

Western part of Patan district. Very few area have 'Severe’ saline soil in Southern

part of Ahmedabad district.

Slight sodicity is found in central part of the region (In Patan, Mahesana and

Ahmedabad district) and in North-East part of Surendranagar district. In west

part of the region (Banaskantha, Patan, Surendranagar and Ahmedabad district).

'Moderate’ to ‘strong‘ sodicity of the soil is found in the region.
