2. Installation:
1. The Sync App for desktop is installed by launching the installer file
2. Install the Sync App
3. Connection:
1. Plug the provided programming cord into the LOCAL PROGRAMMING jack
located on the back side of Apex
2. Connect the other end of the cord to the USB FAX MODEM (Shown Below)
3. Connect the USB FAX MODEM to the computer’s USB port
4. COM Port number can be found in Device Manager -> Modems ->USB Soft Data
Fax Modem with SmartCP->Advanced->Advanced Port Settings

4. Customer File
Apex users will have their own unique customer file which will record the users’
information and their Apex consoles’ information.
4.1 File Creating
1. Double click on the Sync App
2. Select “New Console”, then click “Apex Local Programming”
3. Fill in the information under “Customer Info” menu; Customer First Name,
Customer Last Name, Telephone Number that will be connected to Apex, and
the Console version. Please note that these fields are mandatory.

4. Click File -> Save
5. Choose a folder where you’d like to save the customer’s file, then fill in the file
name with the Customer name followed by .txt

6. Click Save; To preview and/or print the customer file: click File -> Preview and
Print -> Print.
7. Click Exit
8. The customer file will now be created, and saved to the selected folder
Note:
o All file information can be changed in the future
o The Customer file will include Console Setting information and pendant
information after completing “Console Programming” and “Zone
Programming”
o It is possible to review the customer file in text form under the folder that was
selected to store the customer files
5. Console Programming:
Before programming the console, make sure the correct console version and installer
code is entered for programming.

Note:
o All mandatory fields must be filled.
o Section 53, "Language section”, only supports Apex with language unit.
o The APEX-L supports language selection, English, Spanish, and French. The
client can choose which language they prefer in Section 53, "Language section”.
The default language is English.
o The standard Apex DOES NOT support the 3 languages section
o You can save the installer settings and customer information in customer file for
further use. (See detail in Section 4, “File Creating” and Section 7, "Save and
Open")
o You can load the customer file to the sections. (See detail in Section 4 “File
Creating” and Section 7 "Save and Open")
o “New Console Programming” should be used for a console that is brand new or
has been reset.
o If you wish to use “Apex Remote Programming” function, set Section 41 to Double
Call (00) since only Double Call method supports this function.
5.1 New Console Programming
1. Select "New Console", and then click Apex Local Programming
2. Identify the port number for the USB port used for connection. The port number
can be found by following the Steps: Open Control Panel of the PC -> Device
Manager -> Ports

3. Click "Refresh COM Port", then select the COM Ports found in step 2
4. Enter the installer Code: 2468 (Default value)
5. Import the customer file by clicking File -> Open -> Select the customer file you
want to import (see detail in Section 7 “Save and Open”)
6. Click “Console Info menu” and fill in all settings for console (Mandatory fields
must be filled carefully, (Fill all telephone numbers without dash/hyphen/space.
For example, 1234567890)
7. Save the new file with all the settings to replace the older customer file (see detail
in Section 7, “Save and Open”)
8. Click "Local Program"

9. Select "Program all sections", then click "Program"

10. It will take 5-7 min to program the information for all sections
5.2 Existing Console Local Programming
1. Select "Existing Console", and then click on Apex Local Programming
2. Select the file you want to open.

7. Click File -> Save
8. Click "Local Program"

9. Select "Program selected sections", and click on “Load Changed Sections” button
to load the changed sections; also, you can select the sections manually. Or select
"Program all sections" to re-program all settings.

10. It will take 10 - 20 sec to program each changed section
5.3 Remote Programming
1. Only the previous setting for Section 41 to “Double Call” supports “Remote
Programming” function
2. Connect an active phone line to USB FAX Modem, and connect the USB FAX
Modem to the PC
3. Connect another active phone line to Apex
4. Select "Existing Console", and then click on Apex Remote Programming
5. Open the customer file you want to program in the pop-up “Open” window, the
saved information will be filled in the blanks automatically
6. Identify the port number for the USB port used for connection. The port number
can be found by following the Steps: Open Control Panel of the PC -> Device
Manager -> Ports
7. Click "Refresh COM Port", then select the COM Ports found in step 4
8. Enter the installer Code

9. Change or fill in the information and settings under "Customer Info" and "Console

10. Click File -> Save
11. Click "Remote Program"

6. Zone Programming:
This section provides information on adding, removing, and programming your pendant(s)
into Apex.
Note:
o Only ONE pendant can be enrolled at a time.
o Press the EMERGENCY Button on every pendant to make sure it is not powered
off.
o Zone programming can be operated in both remote or local programming.
o Zone 5 – 10 cannot be added until previous zone is added. For example, you
cannot add zone 5 until zone 4 is added
o The zone 5 – 10 will be deleted all together when you remove the previous zone.
For example, if you remove zone 5, zone 6 – 10 will be removed as well.
6.1 Add or Remove Pendant(s)
1. After entering information window, Click “Zone Info” tab
2. Click “Zone Program Start”, wait until the info window shows up

3. Click “OK” on info window
4. Select Device form “Device” menu, and select if you want to Add or Remove this
device from “Add or Remove” menu.
5. Click zone # at the end of each line to start adding or removing the pendant (One
pendant at a time)
6. If you add a pendant, press the EMERGENCY Button after the next info window
shows up, and then Click “OK”, if you remove a pendant, the pendant will be
successfully removed after step 5.

7. Add or remove next pendant by repeating “Add or Remove Pendant(s)” steps 4 to
6
8. Click “Zone Program End” when you finish adding or removing the pendants
9. Save your settings by replacing the old customer file (see detail in Section 7, “Save
and Open”)

7. Save and Open
You can save and open the information that fill in the "Customer Info" and "Console Info”
and “Zone Info” menus.
We recommend saving your settings every time you change any information especially
before you reset the console to avoid information loss.
Note:
o The COM Port Number and Installer Code CANNOT be saved or opened.
o You can print your saved file by click File -> Preview and Print -> Print.
7.1 Save
1. After filling in and changing the information or settings under “Customer Info”,
“Console Info”, or/and menus, click File -> Save before you close the information
window
2. Pop-up “Save as” window if the customer file is new (see detail in Section 7.2
“Save as”)
3. Click Save
4. The customer file will be saved

1. After filling in and changing the information or settings under “Customer Info”,
“Console Info”, or/and menus, click File -> Save as before you close the
information window
2. Enter the customer file name you want to create, or selected the file from the Pop-
up window to replace the old file
3. Click Save
4. The new customer file will be created or replace the older file
7.3 Open
1. After entering information window, Click File -> Open
2. Select the customer file you wish to open
3. Click Open
4. The information you saved will be automatically filled into the sections
8. Reset
You can delete the settings and information you fill for each section, reset the settings to
default value, and/or reset the console to Factory settings.
Note:
o Make sure you have a backup file before you delete or reset in case of losing
information.
o When “Default Settings” options are selected, only the sections under “Console
Info” manual would be set. For example, the customer name and device name will
not change.
o Before select “Factory Reset” option, the console needs to be connected to the PC
and all mandatory fields are filled in case of error.
8.1 Delete the settings and information
o Click Reset -> Select the type of information that needs to be deleted
8.2 Reset the settings to default values
o Click Reset -> Default Settings
o The Default Settings will be entered in the fields
o Program the settings into Apex (See Section 5, “Console Programming” for
detail)

8.3 Reset the console to factory settings
o Fill in the Mandatory Fields
o Fill in the COM Port Number
o Fill in the Installer Code
o Click Reset -> Factory Reset
o Wait until the Message Window shows up, it will take 30 seconds to 1 minute to
restore the factory default settings
o Click “OK” and Apex will be restored to default settings
