A little bit of History

• The oldest traces of human existence in Switzerland date back about 150,000 years. The oldest known farming settlements in Switzerland, which were found at Gächlingen, have been dated to around 5300 BC.

Chocolate

• One thing the Swiss is well known for is its fantastic range of chocolates. Toblerone is from Switzerland and was invented by a man named Jean Tobler in 1867. The company Nestlé was founded in Switzerland.

Sport

• The reigning champion of tennis Roger Federer is from Binnigen and is said to be one of the greatest tennis players of all time.

Sports like skiing, mountaineering, football, curling and golf are all popular sports in the country.
