Psalm 61:2 Wk 3 God can use others to help us during trials. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10,12, John 16:33 Wk 4 God uses common people to do uncommon things 2 Corinthians 12:9 Series Description We connect with movies because they tell stories. Some of these stories can connect with the story of our lives in powerful ways. We’ll look at a different movie for each of the next four weeks, and uncover valuable truths. We expect God’s truth to penetrate through the stories told in these movies and connect to the hearts of students in a transformational way. For week one, we’ll watch scenes from the movie Jurassic World. In the movie, scientists make a bigger, badder dinosaur called the Indominus Rex. We’ll compare that to our lives to see where we try to make ourselves better. During the second week of Switch: At the Movies, we’ll watch clips from Inside Out. We’ll help students sort through the emotions they’re experiencing and help them work through any they’re having a hard time with. In the third week of this series, we’ll be gaining insight from the movie Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. Students will be challenged to look at their friends to see if they’re surrounded by the right people. But they will also be challenged to look at themselves and see if they’re the right type of friend. In the final week of Switch: At the Movies, we’ll be watching scenes from the movie Ant-Man. Through this movie, students will be able to discover how to take the common things in their lives and allow God to do uncommon things through them. Youth Pastor Notes Run Times: Jurassic World—19:28, Inside Out—20:27, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials19:33, Ant-Man—19:44 The videos in this series will run a little longer than what’s typical. Make sure to take that into consideration when planning out your program. For this series, you’ll just go right into a close since the videos are already at maximum length.
