So,what has Carol achieved in her role that has

made themost significant difference to Swindonhealthcare?

She said; "We’ve recently finished our ‘QualityCheckers’ project. We worked with Swindon

Advocacy Movement (SAM) to train four of their

volunteers, all ofwhomhave a learning disability,to carry out ‘Enter and View’ visits and ‘quality

check’ eight doctor’s surgeries and two dentalprac4cesinSwindon.Thepurposeofthevisitswas

to look at how the services were run from the

perspec4ve of someone with lived experience ofa learning disability. Some of the areas inspected

were 'Access to the building' and 'Whetherinforma4on was being provided in an accessible

format'.Afinal reportwith recommenda4onswas

thensenttoeachoftheservicesforcommentsandac4on.

We loved working with the volunteers from SAMand think this sort of work is vital to influence

services as we know that people with learning

disabili4es facemul4plehealth inequali4es.We’rekeen to replicate the ‘Quality Checkers’ work we

did with SAMwith children and young people aswell and are looking for funding opportuni4es to
