sustainability and the awareness and reduction of our environmental impact are at the core of hub’s operation. every material, process and supplier network have been carefully chosen to deliver quality furniture that vastly reduces the impact on the environment.

materials

all wood used in hub’s products is made from virgin timber from sustainable sources and pass fsc certification. the plant manufacturing the mfc boards is a carb accredited industry leader operating on an ongoing ‘carbon positive’ basis. the metal used in hub’s products is iso 14001:2015 compliant and is manufactured using the minimal amount of energy, releasing the minimum amount of co2 possible.

our glass is manufactured selecting safe process chemicals and recyclable/biodegradable materials, minimising the carbon and ware footprint.

the fabric used on all of the upholstery is man-made, therefore meaning it is vegan friendly without contributing to the climate changing effects of farming animals to supply natural fibres, avoiding the significant land, water and food used in animal production.

manufacture

all of hub’s furniture is manufactured in the uk using highly skilled tradespeople working in safe, clean and industry standard driven environments. using solely british manufacturers significantly reduces the carbon footprint compared to products imported from overseas. furthermore it supports the uk economy and ensures consistent quality with regular site visits from the hub team. maintaining manufacturing within the uk also means that as products are travelling a much shorter distance to their destination, they require much less protective packaging.

packaging

hub is working towards achieving a zero waste policy, meaning that no packaging or excess items will go to landfill following installation. hub’s furniture is protected with ‘oxo-degradable’ bubble wrap which is digested harmlessly by micro-organisms. all of hub’s upholstery items are delivered in reusable zip bags, as opposed to traditional un-recyclable plastic wrap. any cardboard used is strictly recyclable and will be returned and reused.
