Additional pressure expected on traditional algaeci des

� Terbutryne has been identified by the EU Commission and could join Diuron and Isoproturon on the Priority Substances List under the Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC).

� The impact of inclusion on the Priority List is 3-fold:

� The EQS (Environmental quality standard) proposed are very low, close to the PNEC.

� Increase monitoring in the European water bodies even at very low level, so priority substances will likely be more detected

� This will negatively impact their evaluation under the BPR for any dispersive uses like PT7 (exterior paints), PT10 and PT21. This together with the fact they are all persistent (so meet 2/3 PBT criteria) will probably make them candidates for substitution (if not directly banned).
