Biocontrol & pheromone market
• Biocontrol = 5% of agro market
• A market of 4 Mds € in 2017 with a 25-30% of annual growth
• Pheromones market : 800 millions€ worldwide
Market growth
• Annual growth pesticides vs biocontrol
• Biocontrol worldwide marketgrowth perspectives
Market growth, key figuresAgriculture in France: 11,7Mds€ of commercial (N1 in Europe), and also N1 consumer of
pesticides (60 000t /an). 40% of the surface are rural lands, of which 7% have converted to bio
Growth of the French Bio market is of 1 billion per year
20 billions species of invasive pests in Europe for 250 billion € in agricultural losses
15% fewer pesticides to be used by the private gardeners in 2016
2005 – 2015: scientific publications dedicated to Biocontrol X 3
=> A challenge that’s economic / environmental / societal
Pheromone for Integrated Pest Management
• Pheromones: A pheromone is a substance naturally secreted and emitted in tinyamounts by a species which, once detected by an individual of this species, induces a specific behaviour or reaction. It is an olfactory signal that acts as amessenger between individuals of a single species. These non-harmful substances are reproduced in the laboratory by biomimicry, and can thus be used against pest insects by attracting, confusing or repellingthem.
Biocontrol and Pheromones
06/09/2018
Pheromones are an efficient and ecological solution, the best in the Bio control:
- no damage to the surrounding ecosystems and environment- no residue- no inputs in the soils- selective- no development of resistance- no toxicity to wildlife/ surrounding vegetation/ local residents/ users- Adaptable to multiple applications, general public, private gardens, forestry , market gardening, greenhouses, forests
……But most of all, an efficacious solution
Biocontrol and Pheromones
• A solution to all the demands of organic agriculture :
Agronomy
Health Environnement
Society Economy
M2i technological breakthrough:Micro encapsulation technologyAn exclusive patented technology
A green technology without solvents which is unique on themarket
The wax of the micro capsules are bio sourced and arebiodegradable.
The process of micro encapsulation allows for a controlledrelease of the pheromone
An economically viable solution which is a simple process thatallows for lower doses to be used of the active substance.
A technology that allows for innovative methods of diffusionsuch as the spray or as a projectile.
Less product per diffuser, better controlled, longer lastingresulting in more economical solutions destined for large scaleagriculture.
Slow release micro-encapsulation technology
Pheromone + wax
The load of pheromone depends of duration and on the level of efficiency of the pheromoneThe nature of the wax and the Ratio Wax/pheromone depends on the duration of the releasing system
Each pheromone systems opens opportunity for IP

Case study: Grape moth
• Sprayable mating disruption :
• 7,5 million hectares of vines in the world, 3.4 million in the EU and 800,000 in France
• 2.1% of cultivated land area in France, but more than 15% of pesticides used
• 60% of toxic residues found on grapes come from the use of pesticides used to fight against grapevine moth
• Organic vineyard area in France tripled from 2010 to 2014
• 5% of French vineyard areas treated by sexual confusion, 45% in Switzerland, 75% in Germany
• Registration on going in France,Italy, Spain, Argentina, Chile, South Africa Target 2018/2019
