Pursuant to the Federal Real ID Act, you may not have more than one valid license or ID card at any time. SUSPENDED, REVOKED OR CANCELLED DRIVER LICENSES If you have an effective suspension, revocation or cancellation on your driver license record, you are required to surrender your driver license to our office. Section 322.059, Florida Statutes, states that any person whose driver’s license or registration has been suspended as provided in s. 322.058, F.S. must immediately return his or her driver license and registration/plate to our office for cancellation (as an agent for the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles). Our office will place a correspondence (60) on your driver license record to indicate you are in compliance and update any registration/plate records to show that they were surrendered. SURRENDERING FOR SOMEONE ELSE Only the person who holds a license has the ability to voluntarily surrender it to our office. That person must be present and must verbally indicate that they wish to surrender the license because they no longer wish to drive. This person would be eligible to apply for an ID card (if needed), provided they are able to submit documents that establish their identity pursuant to the Real ID Act (i.e. US birth certificate, US passport, USCIS/INS documents, proof of name change(s), Social Security Card and 2 proofs of residential address) unless they already have a Real ID compliant Florida record. DRIVING ABILITY IS QUESTIONABLE If you question another person’s ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, you may report the driver to the Division of Driver Licenses in Tallahassee. You must know their personal information, complete Form 72190 and mail or fax it to the agency listed on the form. The reports are confidential and shall be used only to determine the qualifications of the individual to operate a motor vehicle on Florida's highways.
