Today, America’s maritime domain encompasses not only its ports, but also nearly 3.4 million square miles of ocean that washes some 95,000 miles of coastline. As has been its role since the 1790s, the Coast Guard ensures national security by bridging the military and naval operational domains, with those of maritime law enforcement, public safety and economic infrastructure protection.

New Coast Guard platforms, such as the RB-M, will work alongside modernized legacy platforms, such as the MH-65C

From both the support (acquisition and Logistics) and operational perspectives, the Coast Guard’s modernization programs emphasize interoperability—across operational and organizational boundaries
