St. Benedict Catholic School in Atchison will receive the 2019 Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann CEF School of Excellence Award at this year’s Gaudeamus dinner. The award recognizes a CEF-sponsored school for providing a superior Catholic education. Learn more at www.cefks.org/blog. The School of Excellence committee evaluates each school’s application based on the following criteria: Joyfully Catholic, Diligently Achieving, Intentionally Self-Giving, Prudently Managed, and Forwardly Thinking. Eligible donors making a qualified donation to the Catholic Education Foundation can receive a 70% KANSAS STATE TAX CREDIT, lowering state tax liability 70 cents on the dollar and receiving additional deductions on their federal tax return.

Individuals, corporations, pass-through entities, banks and insurance companies are eligible. Donations can include cash, stocks, IRA distributions, life insurance, bonds, propoerty, and other investments.

The minimum donation for the program is $10,000. Tax credits cannot be issued for event sponsorships or donations to the Catholic Education Foundation’s traditional scholarship program. Visit CEFKS.ORG/TAXCREDIT for details and to review sample tax scenarios.

The Catholic Education Foundation provides children in need with scholarships to attend designated Catholic schools in the

Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas.

ANAHI attended Bishop Ward High School on a CEF scholarship, graduating in May and enrolling in Johnson County Community College. She plans to transfer to Kansas State University to study architecural engineering. “I’ll be the first in my family to go to college,” she said. “It really means a lot because I will set a good example for my sister.”

With the help of a CEF scholarship, JAVIER graduated from high school and now attends Midland University in Nebraska, where he is studying nursing and playing soccer. He plans to be the first in his family to receive a college degree. “My mom is very excited for me to go to col-lege,” he said. “She doesn’t want me to leave, but she knows I’m ready.”

AILED attended high school on a CEF scholarship and is now a student at Kansas City Kansas Community College. She is the first in her family to go to college, and plans to transfer to the University of Kansas to study nursing. “I want to thank the people who sponsored my CEF scholarship,” Ailed said. “I appreciate everything they’ve done for me.”
