Purpose and Goals of the Entry PlanThe entry plan was designed to provide a baseline of data to focus our efforts on continued academic improvement for every student and the alignment of our resources and district goals.

Goals

• Establish relationships with all internal and external stakeholders and establish a positive presence in the community

• Assess the district’s strengths, challenges and opportunities and learn the important issues related to education in our community

• Establish priorities for planning forward

•Toured all campuses and met with campus principals at least once

•Met with students and student leadership groups across the district

•Attended student activities i.e. sporting events, fine arts events, and elementary programs

•Toured all facilities with district leaders and central office staff

•Conducted one on one meetings with department leaders

•Conducted one on one meetings with teachers and various leaders of extra-curricular and co-curricular programs

•Initial one on one meetings with each member of our Board of Trustees

•Met with Sheriff Hierholzer, Chief Knight, and KFD Chief Smith, and County Judge Pollard

•Met with Charlie McCormick, President of Schreiner University and Chancellor Bruce Leslie and Trustees of Alamo Colleges

•Met with local media outlets owners and reporters

•Met with Representative Andrew Murr and Senator Buckingham in Austin

“Look and Listen” Mission Accomplished•Met with assistant superintendents, principals and campus teams to analyze and review local and state assessment data

•Met with parent groups such as PTO Presidents and Booster Clubs *

•Analyzed KISD facilities report and have begun long range planning for facilities improvements

•Reviewed and gathered feedback on the state of technology in the district

•Reviewing staffing data and filling priority positions: CFO, THS Principal

•Reviewing enrollment trends, the district budget and all financial reports

•Community support: ES Mentor Program, KPSF, Booster Clubs, Blessings in a Backpack
