session section
On behalf of Session, thank you for your continued prayers and feedback. We appreciate the many emails we have received from the congregation sharing your thoughts, ideas and con-cerns. Please feel free to continue to email us at [email protected].
One of the things we are considering with the encouragement of Pastor Jake and Pastor Dennis is becoming better “shepherds” of the congregation. We as a Session truly want to serve Christ and you as Elders of the church and are looking into ways to be better equipped to do so. Please be patient with us as we transition into a new shepherding model and remember that we are flawed human beings just like you. We look to our perfect shep-herd, Jesus Christ, as our example and the Holy Spirit for our guidance and strength.
Coming up in July will be our annual Congregational Meeting to review and approve the new fiscal year church budget. The church fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. The budget serves as a roadmap of the church’s spending priorities in the coming year. It is also a measure of our faith in God to meet our needs and God’s faithful-ness to us in meeting our needs. We
are taking a big step of faith in propos-ing a substantial increase in next year’s budget. Please pray that God will bless us and help us to be wise stewards of the financial resources He entrusts us with. We want everyone to hear the church bell ring when we make our next year’s budget! (For those of you wondering what that means you need to listen to Pastor Dennis’ sermon from June 25.)
At the request of our new Music Minis-try Director, Darren Huntting, and with the blessing of Pastor Jake and Session, our church choir will be “disrobing” for the summer. Darren has assured us that the choir will sound even better without the burden of wearing heavy robes during the hot summer months. We are certainly blessed in worship each week by the music from our won-derful choir and praise band and are thankful for the leadership of Darren and the time and talent of all those who serve in the music ministry.
We ask for your continued prayers of God’s guidance and wisdom as we lead Covenant into a new era of revival and renewal.

SAFETY Please take notice of the new gates added to the campus to better pro-tect our children from any outside harm. For years, we have had the luxury of having an open campus but now we need to take measures to insure the safety of our chil-dren. Most schools today, public or private, are gated and require visitors to sign in at the school office in order to come on to their campus. We are
bringing our campus up to current standards.
We know this might be an inconvenience to those using the Senior Center, but to protect the safety of our children and the campus, it is important. During school or daycare hours, if your group meets in the Senior Center, please go into the CCS office and they will let you in the gate. After hours, you will have to walk around the classrooms, through the court-yard, and down the hallway towards the playground to get into the Senior Center. Group Leaders, you may then "prop" open the gate nearest the parking lot to let the members of your group in, but you MUST secure the gate upon your de-parture.
Again, we apologize for any inconvenience, and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact Ed Earl at [email protected].

Colleen (Matthews) Sanford College
Colleen graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She earned a Bachelor's Degree with a Major in Ani-mal Science and a Minor in Psychol-ogy. Currently, she works at a local Ranch Market, gardens, raises chick-
ens, and breeds German Short-Haired Pointer dogs. She lives with her husband, Andrew, who continues his studies at UT to be a veterinarian. They attend Arrowhead Church in Mor-ristown, TN.
Melissa A. Gonzales College
Melissa Alison Gonzales, daughter of Stephen and Debbie Gonzales, gradu-ated Cum Laude from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She received a Bachelor of Sci-ence degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and
Law.
During her sophomore year, Melissa very much enjoyed working as a Resident Advisor in a dormitory, planning activi-ties for and assisting freshman students living on campus. She also became heavily involved in volunteering as an orienta-tion leader for Cal Poly’s new student orientation program called Week of Welcome. Additionally, Melissa has worked two summer internships for Ernst & Young LLP (EY) during her time in college and has been blessed to be able to accept a full time position with EY once she finishes her CPA tests.
During college, Melissa was a true adventurer. Activities that she enjoyed doing while attending school included: hiking around the many peaks and beaches that San Luis Obispo has to offer; going out of the country for the first time with her business class to China, Vietnam, and New Zealand; taking an equine management class at Cal Poly to learn horseback rid-ing; obtaining a motorcycle license with her dad; and running both a half and a full marathon. She also continued her pas-sion by serving on the worship team of a local church in San Luis Obispo, singing and playing the acoustic guitar.
We are most proud that Melissa has kept her faith and re-mains steadfast in her belief in God. She is very thankful to have been led to other faithful friends and professors at Cal Poly that have supported her along the way.
John 3: 4 sums these past four-years up perfectly: “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. “
