DISCIPLE

In September 2009, eight of us set out on a journey. For 34 weeks we

read and studied scripture together and met each week for 2 ½ hours

to discuss and share our discoveries together. John 8:31 tells us that “if

you make my word your home you will indeed be my disciples”. Explor-

ing God’s word and discovering its riches and the message it has for

each of us is a key component of Christian formation. The following

individuals have completed a study together. As they continue on their

journey of faith, may we encourage each of them as they seek to im-

plement their gifts through the ministry of FBC Tucker and in their own

personal walk.

N.E.T. FOOD PANTRY

Our church is responsible for

furnishing egg noodles and canned

vegetables for the food pantry. Egg

noodles are especially needed. When

you shop, buy a little extra and bring these to the

hallway down from the church office and place in

the plastic tub marked “Food Pantry”.

Thank you.

What’s the Deal? Summer is here with sunshine, heat and outdoor activities. The youth participated in the T.I.M.E. project June 11-16 roofing a home in Tucker. It was hot but they accomplished the task in good order. Please remember to pray for the students and leaders who will be attending Passport Camp. On July 26-29, the youth will be on the Moving On Up Lake Trip for a time of discipleship, bible study and fun. I want to thank all of you who bought BBQ butts and participated in the BBQ lunch in June. The food was delicious and the money contributed has helped the youth pay for a portion of their trips and activities. You are all special to us and we love each of you. William Deal

Notes from Angela …

Vacation Bible School: Thank you to all the HERO volunteers of HERO HEADQUARTERS Vacation Bible School. We had a daily average attendance of 101 children! Many positive comments were received from parents. The children participated in many service projects during the week. They mailed ‘Surprise Postcards’ to random people in the Tucker area letting them know that God loves them, made ‘Welcome, Baby’ cards for newly adoptive families, filled over 120 ‘Snacks Sacks’ which were delivered for children temporarily residing in local extended stay motels and residents of Stanford Oak Apartments, and made over 100 first aid baggies for children associ-ated with Refugee Services. They had a very busy week learning and serving. Thank you for the prayers and the love you gave to the children that week. Children Ministry Volunteers: Help is needed in the children’s ministry for sub-stitute teachers and nursery workers. If you have a love for children, please contact Angela at [email protected] to sign up. A background check needs to be completed on all children and youth workers. Thanks!!
