CALL TO WORSHIP

O sing to the Lord a new song, for

he has done marvelous things.

Make a joyful noise to the Lord,

all the earth; break forth into

joyous song and sing praises. He

has done marvelous things!

Prayer of Invocation/Confession

O God our Father, we rejoice today. May this time of worship be more than a habit of gathering. May the truth of Your Word cut us and shake us, this last Sunday of the year. Deliver us from weariness of mind and heaviness of heart. We desire new life, and joy, in living. May this house of prayer shine today with Your glory. Lead each one of us to where we may see You face to face and know Your will for our lives. Open our eyes to the light that the darkness cannot extinguish, and hasten that glorious day when every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that You are Lord over all. To You, we confess our sins and we are sorry, and we do now repent. May Your forgiveness cleanse us and heal us. May Your saving power lead us and guide us. Thank You for today. We are learning to love and to live. Hear our prayer, O Lord. Amen.

Offertory Prayer

Holy Father You have blessed us in a bountiful way in the year that is

about to come to a close. We thank You for each blessing. Help us to express

our love and appreciation today as we give our tithes, mission gifts and

sacrificial offerings. You have given us many gifts, but the greatest of all is

Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. We thank You that in Jesus, You became

identified with us. Help us to realize Your presence more than ever before.

Accept our gifts and use them to bring other people to a knowledge that

"God is with us." In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.

“Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the

work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in

vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

FROM THE DESK OF REV. CARNEL RICHARDSON

Shalom and grace to You from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

O Magnify the Lord with me and let us continue to exalt His wonderful name together. My heart, soul and mind are all overjoyed as we end a wonderful year together. New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, our Heavenly Father has kept us, blessed us, and never failed us in 2017.

Our Savior, Jesus Christ makes an eloquent and powerful statement when he tells His disciples that they are the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Matthew 5:13-14). New Prospect, in 2017 we have continued to shine the light of Christ in our worship, preaching, outreach, community partnerships, and overall ministry efforts. We have exhibited that indolence bears no reward and that success is accomplished by hard work and consistency. We have proven that we are the light of the world.

Below are some highlights of accomplishments in our Christian life together:

Continued to baptize new believers and receive new members by way of Christian Experience

Continued to pursue excellence in Christian Education through the Sunday School and Specialized Christian Education Courses

Continued our weekly Bible studies such as Women in the Word, Brother to Brother, Young Adult Bible Study, etc.

Continued our intercessory prayer efforts at 10:00 am and 6:00 pm on Mondays

Continued our outreach efforts through the “Meal Served with Love” and Saturday Outreach Worship, Meals on Wheels, Homeless Week, etc.

Nurtured our seasoned senior citizens in various ways

Provided our graduating High School Seniors with College Scholarships

Increased our Youth and Young Adult Ministry Exponentially through offering Bible Study, prayer, mentoring, travel, and other culturally diverse activities

Renamed the Corner of Pembroke and Livernois Rev. Wilma R. Johnson Avenue

Received another surplus of accolades for our work with the Race for the Cure Cancer Initiative

Strengthened our partnership with the Detroit Police Department through various events and initiatives i.e. Youth Carnival, Goodfellows, etc.

Fulfilled our Christian duty to Mission work through assisting Hurricane Harvey Victims

The list is longer than what has been stated but the crux of the matter is that with God’s help we have remained a strong and vibrant church. The good news is that the “Best is Yet to Come.” In 2018, we must GROW SPIRITUALLY. In 2018, we must continue to do the work of ministry. We must continue to LIFT UP THE NAME OF JESUS.

Looking Forward to the New Year, Rev. Carnel H.L. Richardson

Lead Pastoral Minister
