Note of the Week………………

By the time you read this, I will be on a Baltic cruise that begins in Copenhagen, Denmark and ends in St. Petersburg, Russia! Oh the adventures Bob, my husband, and I will have! (This trip is on Bob’s bucket list.) I’ve been in a helicopter and landed on a glacier, I’ve flown in a hot air balloon, I’ve white-water rafted in Colorado, and I have swum with the dolphins in the Caribbean! What’s next? I hope to see Cathedrals, ships, fiords, museums, and of course, do lots of shopping! I will be gone for two weeks and one day! Please pray for Bob and me for safe travels! I promise to bring back pictures and many tales of adventure. While I am gone, Bernadette Vigiletti, a great friend and musician, will lead the choir (in our one-service at 10:00 a.m.) for June 7th and 14th. Don’t forget that for the month of June, we will be singing very easy “pick up anthems”—you pick up the anthem, rehearse it and sing it in the service. If you have ever thought you might like to sing, but didn’t have the time or inclination, this might be the time to try singing again with the choir! They will be rehearsing at 9:30 Sunday mornings in June in preparation for the 10:00 a.m. worship service. Come to the choir room, and we will prepare you for the service. And, no robes! This Sunday Bernadette will be leading the choir in the anthem “Simple Gifts” by Pachebel and arranged by Schweizer. Some of the words are: “Tis a gift to be simple, ‘tis a gift to be free, ‘tis a gift to come down where we ought to be; and when we find ourselves in a place just right, ‘twill be in the valley of love and delight. See you in church on Sunday. Joyfully Singing in Christ, Pam Cochrane

The Chancel Choir will be

on vacation during the month of July.

They will begin rehearsals again on Wednesday, July 29th.

Like to Sing?

(But can’t make Wednesday night choir rehearsals, or don’t have the time, or are afraid to try, or have a sore toe!)

Come and join the choir on Sunday Mornings in the month of June!

The Chancel Choir is singing “pick-up” anthems- you pick up the anthem, you rehearse it a couple of

times, and you sing it in the worship service! It’s as simple as pie! Give it a try! (Nice rhyme!)

Come to the choir room at 9:30 a.m., practice the anthem and sing it at the10:00 worship service!

(Did I say no robes? No robes! Comfortable clothes! I must be a poet and don’t know it! Lol!)

Coming Soon!

The parking lot is scheduled to be resurfaced on June 19th & 20th, a Friday & Saturday.

The church office will be closed Friday the 19th.

If you plan on visiting the church on these dates, the parking lot will be unavailable and all events cancelled.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

Thank you, Building and Grounds Committee

Rev. Garis will be on vacation June 11th–20th. Rev. King will be available for any pastoral emergencies during this time.

Healing & Wellness

An All Adult Gathering will take place July 19th at 9:00 am during the Sunday School hour. The topic is Healing & Wellness & the speaker will be Chaplin Kofi Adzaku currently with Texas Health Resources. Chaplin Adzaku will share information & expertise in the areas of physical, emotional and spiritual healing. Coffee and doughnuts will be served.

To our dear St Philip family,

Once again we find ourselves in a position of receiving and of thankfulness for your unending generosity and support. We know that many of you know that we have struggled with finding God present through all of this. We have seen God work through you to meet our every need. Thank you for the meals, the transportation for our grandchildren, the flowers in our hotel room at our arrival in Carlsbad.

Thank you for the awesome basket of treasures: from puzzles to work (since you knew we couldn’t have our electronics in the courtroom) to sleep aids to snacks to financial assist to even laundry detergent. You thought of everything! We thank you for all of your prayers of support and the texts of caring and concern for us. We thank you for loving us and our grandchildren through this. The outcome of the trial is irrelevant. Our Emily cannot be replaced and no punishment for him seems quite adequate. But at least we are through the uncovering of all the horror and we can put that behind us and begin to heal now. Please continue to remember us and each of our grandchildren in your prayers as we continue to move forward.

Thank you is so inadequate but we offer that to each of you. Steve & Donna Koenig

Elizabeth Dick Writes:

Wanted all of St. Philip to know that yesterday I passed my LCSW exam. Whew!!! The end of a seven year trek! Many, many thanks to all at SPPC for your role in this milestone.

Who knows what the end will be?

P.S. Ron turned in the rough draft of Chapter three...Chugging along.

Blessings and peace, Elizabeth

Are you receiving the weekly Friday announcements?

Don’t know what this is? Each Friday an email is sent with the upcoming weeks events, birthdays and other important announcements and reminders. You must “opt in” to receive this weekly email. This email will keep you up to date and involved in the St. Philip community.

How do you get on the list? Well, for 3 easy payments of… no really, all you need to do is send an email to [email protected] requesting to be added to the weekly email list. You will then receive an email with a link to sign up. This is the “opting in”. That’s it!

Receiving the announcements, but not always reading them? Well go ahead and open that email! Who knows what you could be missing. We could be giving away puppies each week.

Appreciation from Adopt a School

St. Philip has received two plaques in appreciation for our work with Adopt a School. One is from Hurst Junior High School and the other is from HEB Independent School District. Many thanks to all of those from the Mission Committee and beyond who have worked to make these partnerships a success. These partnerships have included many people and many talents. Many came together to organize and attend the Red Raider Lunch, pick up supplies, serve breakfast to teachers, make aprons for volunteers to wear, mentor students, and much more. Thank you all for dedicating time and service to our schools during the 2015 school year.
