Teen AquaticsLevel 7 Jr. Aquaducks This level differs from other levels in that the format allows older children and teens the opportunity to develop a program that fits their interests after they complete the Shark Level. Participants will expand upon the five main points of YMCA swim lessons in create ways that they help develop while they learn leadership skills and the value of community service.

Water Warriors- This Small Group Personal Training Program consists of interval swimming for strength, endurance and speed, group exercises, and stretching. The strokes will include front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke and sidestroke. A variety of equipment will be used including hand bars, weights, water walkers, and noodles.

Private & Semi Private Lessons Private and semi-private lessons are accommodating to the busy schedules of parents and children alike. Both private and semi-private lessons can be purchased in packages of 3, 5 and 7, 30-minute lessons. Private Lessons will not be scheduled during group swim lesson times. You can now register for 1, 2 or 3 lessons per week. We work with all abilities, concentrating on swimming basics for beginners or stroke development for more advanced swimmers. An information form must be completed at the Member Relations Desk in order to be put on the list for an instructor. Lessons are based on a first-come, first-serve basis and on instructor availability. The Aquatics Department will contact those interested when an instructor becomes available.

Water Fitness Classes From water aerobic exercises to water walking exercises, working out in the pool is an excellent non-impact way to build strength, reduce body fat, and increase flexibility.

COMING THIS SUMMER:

F.A.S.T. Summer Swim Team (Age 4-18) Swim team is for experienced swimmers from ages 4-18. We have very experienced and caring coaches with a variety of swimming backgrounds. We will be competing in several meets against other YMCA’s in the Chicago-land area. Practice times are based on the swimmers ability and all swim team participants must be Foglia YMCA members. There is a 10% discount for each additional child. The summer season will run from Monday, May 12-Sunday, July 20. There will be evening practice for the weeks of May 12-June 12. Try-outs will be required for all new swimmers and held on Monday, May 5th and Tuesday, May 6th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. There is no fee but registration is required. Swim times, fees and evening swim times will be available at registration.

Prerequisites:

Ages 6-8 Must be able to swim: 25 yards Freestyle w/open turns, 25 yards Backstroke, 25 yards Breaststroke, a basic Butterfly

Ages 9-12 Must be able to swim: 50 yards Freestyle w/flip turns, 50 yards Backstroke, 50 yards Breaststroke, 25 yards Butterfly

Ages 13-18 Must be able to swim: 100 yards Freestyle w/flip turns, 100 yards Backstroke with turns, 100 yards Breaststroke, 100 yards Butterfly

Red Cross Lifeguard Training Age: 15 years and up Learn the skills and knowledge required to become a lifeguard, including how to recognize, prevent and respond quickly to aquatic emergencies. Learn CPR for the professional rescuer, AED and First Aid. Participants will receive certifications after attending all class sessions, passing all written exams, water skills and tests. Certifications are good for 2 years. Class fee includes lifeguard manual.

Prerequisites: Participant must be age 15 or older and be able to pass pretest. (Pretest consists of: 300 yard swim using front crawl with rhythmic breathing and also using the breast stroke without stopping; swim 20 yards of either stroke, perform a surface dive and retrieve a ten pound brick in 10 feet of water and then return the brick 20 yards; and tread water for 2 minutes with hands out of the water.)

Class Dates/Times: May 3-4 - 11am-6pm OR May 12-13 & 21-22 - 9am-5pm

Fee: $225M/$275NM

Teen Fitness ProgramsTeen's age 12 through 15 are REQUIRED to complete the Teen Fitness program. The program will consists of learning how to properly use the cardiovascular and selectorized weight equipment. The program consists of four separate appointments based on the goals and time frame of the individual. Upon completion of the program all teens must pass a written exam. Teens must wear proper identification at all times while going through the program and after completion. If identification is lost, contact the wellness center for a replacement.

Teen Free Weight OptionAfter completion of the Teen Fitness Program and proof of passing the exam, all teens ages 14 or 15 are permitted to use the Free Weight based on the following conditions: (NO EXCEPTIONS)

• Written Informed Consent• Medical Clearance Form• Proof of Age• Proper ID (wrist band)• Abide by the code of conduct• MANDATORY supervision by a parent or guardian at ALL times.

Teen Group Exercise OptionAfter completion of the Teen Fitness Program all teens ages 12-15 are permitted to attend our Group Exercise classes without a parent based on the following conditions:

• Written Informed Consent• Medical Clearance Form• Proof of Age• Proper ID (wrist band)• Abide by the code of conduct

Small Group Personal TrainingCross Training Utilizing functional training to make a more functional you! The human body is designed to run, jump, lift, roll, twist...basic skills that traditional methods don't address. When you train your body to meet the demands of an active healthy lifestyle you will see marked improvement in: body awareness, endurance (physical and mental), strength, power, agility, and flexibility...all the good things that make life a little more enjoyable! All skills can be scaled to meet your individual fitness level.

Kettlebell This class will teach you the foundation kettlebell lifts. Proficiency in these lifts will ensure your success in losing body fat, increasing your strength, correcting strength imbalances and overall general fitness.

Lose Weight & Keep It Off This training program can provide you the personalized attention of a trainer at a lower cost in a supportive group environment. All of the exercises in the program can be scaled in difficulty to fit your individual needs. The program will help you get in shape in a fun and challenging atmosphere. Each participant will receive a fitness assessment at the beginning & end of the program, nutritional guidance and group workouts twice a week.

TRX Body Blast This class takes your workout to a whole new level utilizing the TRX suspension trainer along with additional tools (will vary week to week) to build total body strength and cardiovascular endurance while increasing flexibility and challenging your core all at the same time.

TRX Bootcamp This class takes your workout to a whole new level utilizing the TRX suspension trainer along with additional tools (will vary week to week) to build total body strength and cardiovascular endurance while increasing flexibility and challenging your core all at the same time.

Group Personal Training Join a group of no more than fifteen for scheduled thirty minute group personal training session. Sessions will provide you with the expertise of a personal trainer at an affordable price.

Teen Sports LeaguesSummer Leagues- Come join our recreational league that will emphasize sportsmanship, positive competition, and character development.

Soccer Leagues-In our youth soccer leagues, we enjoy teaching all the soccer skills needed through a non-competitive environment. These leagues are perfect for beginners or for those interested in improving their abilities during practices or games. All talent levels are welcome, and shin guards are required for all participants. Kids will learn all positions on the field, so they learn the different aspects of soccer. Games and practices will be held on the field at the Foglia YMCA or Quentin Collection's Field.

Flag Football Leagues-Come enjoy this non-competitive league where we focus on the fundamentals, skills, and proper positions, while having loads of fun. This league is perfect for beginners and those that want to get even better with their flag football skills, and possibly ready for tackle. All practices and games will be played on the field at the Foglia Y or Quentin Collection's Field.

Basketball Leagues-In our youth basketball leagues, we stress development of skills, teamwork and fundamentals, in a fun and positive environment. This is a great way for your child to learn the game of basketball, or to improve their skills as they grow older and progress through our leagues. All leagues grades (1st-8th) will have a weeknight practice to improve their skills during the season. Games and practices will be played at local District 95 schools.

Whether you’re just starting out or have been working out for years, we’ve developed a number of great classes for you to take your fitness to the next level. Not sure where to start? No problem. Schedule a free Fitness Consultation with one of our experienced personal trainers and map out a plan that is right for you.

Aquatic Personal Training - Your Personal Trainer will design a fun and challenging aquatic exercise program. Workouts will focus in on a variety of options such as weight loss, strength, or range of motion and flexibility. This is also a great program for rehabbing an injury! Aqua Personal Training is available for anyone over age 12. Partner and small group training is also available. Fees for Aqua Personal Training are consistent with the personal training fees. Private Basketball Training The Foglia YMCA is proud to announce a new offering to build on those basketball skills throughout the year, a private basketball skills training! Whether you are in the middle of the season and just want to get more practice in, or it's the offseason and need to keep those skills sharp for the next season, the Foglia YMCA basketball staff is happy to keep those previous skills sharp, as well as learn some new individual skills to help you for the next year. This program is open to 3rd-8th graders, and will run any day of the week that works with both yours and the trainers' schedules. We are offering 30 or 60 minute packages which are listed below. We have a few different staff within the youth sports department that have played or currently play high school basketball, including a couple staff that have coached numerous teams over the course of the last few years. Please contact our Youth Sports department to set up your training today!
