It uses informal and formal logicalreasoning processes including deductive and inductivereasoning, synthetic, coordinate, and trans formationalapproaches to study congruence, similarity, parallelism,symmetry, and perpendicularity. The integration ofalgebraic skills and concepts to solve geometric problemsis stressed.

unitEd StatES GovErnmEnt .5 credit June 7-June 25 Monday-Friday 8a.m.-12p.m. Cost $400 Rising grades 10, 11, and 12 eligibleInstructor: Mr. Michael EdmonsonUS Government is a course that is integral to understanding the American system of governance. The course will include instruction on the various forms of government, with particular attention to our system of government as defined by the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

EconomicS .5 Credit June 28-July 16 No classes during the week of July 4 Monday-Friday 8a.m.-2:30p.m. (includes ½ hour lunch) Cost $400 Rising grades 10, 11 and 12 eligibleInstructor: Mr. Michael EdmonsonThis course focuses on the American economic system and covers fundamental economic concepts, comparative

economic systems, microeconomics, macroeconomics,and international economic interdependence. It stressesthe ability to analyze critically and to make decisionsconcerning public issues.

muSic tEchnoloGy .5 Credit June 9-June 18 Monday-Friday 8:30a.m.-4p.m. (includes ½ hour lunch) Cost $400 Rising grades 9-12 eligibleInstructor: Mr. Chris MooreThe Music Technology Camp is designed for students entering 8-12 grade to explore and enhance their learning and understanding of the world of Music Technology. Each camper will develop skill sets in music recording, mixing and sequencing, as well as live music technology. Topics will include recording a band, sound design, music for film, music creation through technology and enhancing performance with technology. Students will have a CD with their work at the end of the camp.

Painting camp will explore individual visual experience with creative interpretation through experimenting with mixed media. Materials will include collage materials, paint, modeling compounds, paper, and fiber. Be prepared to experience creating sculptured surfaces, collage, dripping, and pouring while exploring textures, values, balance and contrasts found in nature. clay camp June 7-June 11 1-5p.m. Cost $175 (this includes cost of materials) Rising grades 7, 8, and and 9 are eligibleJune 14-June 18 1-5p.m. Cost $175 (this includes cost of materials) Rising grades 7, 8, and 9 are eligibleInstructor: Mr. Hank KunathRead between the lines. Students will experience clay in a whole new way: coils, slabs, and wheel thrown vessels and tiles with a new look. Clay camp will explore the individual experience of creating an object that is beautiful to the eye, a pleasure to touch, and both functional and abstract. Materials will include stoneware clay, glazes, and tools used to create some visual magic. Be prepared to experience creating abstract sculpture in relief, tiles, jewelry, and functional ceramics. Experiment with glaze and embellished textured surfaces.

crEativE WritinG camp August 2-August 6 8a.m.-12p.m. Cost $150 Rising Grades 9, 10, and 11 are eligible Instructor: Ms. Melody CannonIn this course, the student will (1) write original work in a variety of genres: poetry, fiction, drama, and directed voice. The student will view examples of excellent fictional narrative, provided by the teacher, as he or she begins to undertake the task of writing. In class, work will be read aloud (without identifying the student writer) and “work shopped,” as students comment on one another’s stories/poems. The student will revise one poem and one short story. (2) The student will look up and define selected literary terms to hand in as homework. (3) The student will

read at least six short stories from a packet provided by the teacher and write observations about them to hand in as homework. At the end of the week, students will read a brief passage from their work at a “Reading,” followed by refreshments. Requirements: a. laptops b. black pens and red pens c. knowledge of MLA style

Campers will spend their day rotating between art, drama, sports activities, and computer activities in the Computer Lab. Campers will bring a sack lunch and also a book to read during lunch/rest time. Snacks wil be provided. All camps are taught by MVPS staff and coaches.

There will be an extra fee for early drop-off and late pick-up times: 8-9am early drop-off and 4-5p.m. late pick-up - $5 total per day. The students will be grouped by grade levels as they rotate during the day.

*Rising Pre-k-k: These students may attend for a half-day portion of the camp from 9a.m - 12noon for $150.00.

To enhance the learning process, games will be incorporated in the teaching process. With a small 8:1 ratio, campers will receive personalized attention. All instructions will be given by former professional and college players. Lunch will be provided daily.

With a small 8:1 counselor to camper ratio, players receive individual instruction including ball handling and shooting skills, and work in game situations. Lunch is provided daily.

Instruction provided by certified coaches with college experience, as well as student counselors. Lunch is provided daily.

This camp is designed to challenge all, regardless of whether they have experience in organized football programs. The MVPS staff and players provide individual and small group instruction to participants. young men attending the clinic will take part in non-contact drills; receive instruction into gross and fine motor skills involved in offensive, defensive, and special teams play. The camp fee includes camp T-shirt and the personalized instruction described above. Ten percent team discount for groups of 6 or more!
