2020-2021 CALENDAR CHANGE The Park Hill Board of Education recently voted to change the calendar for the upcoming school year.

The updated calendar includes a plan to use up to five days of distance learning for snow days or other closures. Alternative methods of instruction (AMI) days would reduce the amount of days made up at the end of the year.

In addition to AMI days, the calendar includes early release dates for middle school.

BUDGET CHANGES This unprecedented time has undoubtedly created varying levels of uncertainty. Recently, Governor Mike Parson announced a significant reduction in funding for public school districts. As new information becomes available, our Board of Education and administrators have been working to accommodate the revenue shortfalls, to ensure we use the available funds efficiently.

Since information changes frequently, the district will integrate the best and most current information we have into a budget for this

coming fiscal year. Ultimately, the Board will pass a budget by June 30 that goes into effect July 1.

Dear Park Hill Family, Though this school year ended differently than any of us could have anticipated, I’m proud of the resilience of our students, staff and families. I’m proud of the way our community came together to make learning possible during this time. I’m proud of our teachers who found creative ways to make a less-than-ideal situation productive and meaningful for our students. Thank you, teachers, staff, students and families, for persevering.

As you can see on the front page, our Gerner Family Early Education Center opened to students on June 1. We are excited to have students back in our buildings. Our staff has taken many precautions to ensure the safety of

our students as much as possible. We will continue to adapt our plans and update our families as we receive more information and guidelines from local health officials.

On behalf of our staff, thank you for supporting our students and teachers during this unprecedented time. Sincerely, Jeanette CowherdSuperintendent
