SPRING NEWSLETTER 2019 Hi LTC Members! It sure has been a long winter but, I think spring is finally here!
I hope you have a happy and healthy summer. We have planned our first picnic of the
summer at Sullivan Park on June 19. I hope to see you there to enjoy good food and
music by Fritz’s Polka Band. Thank you for your LTC membership and support of our
programs. We hope to see many of you participating in our activities throughout the
year. We try so hard to make our events interesting and FUN!

ROBIN’S ANNOUNCEMENTS
I have included the activity schedule for 2019 in
this newsletter. I’m excited about the Mystery
Trip this year – it’s gonna be a good one!! And
we have a holiday overnight trip to Lancaster
PA. We will be seeing two fabulous shows and
eating like kings! Check it out!
Annual “Senior Recognition Day”
CONGRATULATIONS to Theresa Combs, our
2019 “Senior Volunteer of the Year”. She was
honored at the Lions Club Dinner on Sunday
April 28. John Becker, Town Supervisor,
presented the award and proclaimed it to be
“Theresa Combs” day in the Town of Sullivan..
All former Senior of the year honorees were
encouraged to attend.

DETAILS: The Town of Sullivan 8 passenger van is
available for trips to area shopping one day a month
from May to December. The group decides where
the van travels each month.

osteoporosis and reduce bone loss through
strength training exercise. Beginners are

DETAILS: Join the LTC for their annual picnic in the park. Menu includes kielbasa and pulled pork
sandwiches, baked beans, salads and other favorites from Abbott’s Catering. Entertainment by Fritz’s Polka
Band will follow. In case of rain, the picnic moves to the parks & rec building.

DATE: Wednesday, July 17
LOCATION: Sullivan Park Main Pavilion
TIME: 4:30 to 7:30 pm
Dinner at approximately 5:30 pm.

DETAILS: The LTC is holding a cook-out featuring hot dogs and hamburgers cooked to perfection. Local
musical sensation – Aaron Velardi will present his live show. In case of rain, the picnic moves to the parks
& rec building.
BIG BAND SOUNDS & BBQ
DATE: Wednesday, August 14
LOCATION: Chapman Park Pavilion I
TIME: 11:30 to 3:00 pm
Lunch will be served at approximately 12:00 noon

DETAILS: Join us for our annual chicken barbecue at Chapman Park in Pavilion I: (close to the lake, parking,
and bathrooms.) Bring a lawn chair & your appetite. Red Raville’s Big Band will bring us the great tunes of
the 1940’s and 50’s all afternoon. In case of rain, the picnic moves to the parks & rec building.

DETAILS: Start the day with a self-guided tour at the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton.
Then we’ve included the lunch buffet at the new Clayton Harbor Hotel on the St. Lawrence River waterfront.
Following lunch sit back for a salute to the Old Time County Music Stars by Ron and Nancy One Song. After
the show enjoy a 1 ½ hour sightseeing cruise with Island Tours (pick up at the Clayton Harbor Hotel).

DETAILS: Grease is the word and a musical comedy that starred Olivia Newton John in the movie. Now you
can enjoy it live on stage. Lunch is included at the “Inn Between” Restaurant in Elbridge. Lunch choices
are: Stuffed Chicken Breast or sliced Roast Beef. Make your choice with sign up.
HIDDEN VALLEY ANIMAL ADVENTURE

DETAILS: Embark on an animal safari ride where the animals roam freely and come right up to the wagon!
A buffet lunch is served in their beautiful lodge and there will be free time in the petting area. After lunch we
travel to East Aurora to visit Roycroft campus, one of the country’s last “guilds” for a tour and some shipping
at an old fashioned 5 & 10 store.

DETAILS: First stop is Glimmerglass State Park and a tour of Hyde Hall overlooking Otsego Lake. A buffet
luncheon will be served at the Otesaga Hotel. We meet our guide for a tour of Cooperstown and a dessert
stop at the Fly Creek Cider mill for a slice of pie ala mode and a beverage (included) that finishes our day.
STATE FAIR BUS
DATE: Monday, August 26

TIME: Depart Recreation Office at 9:15 am.

RESERVATIONS: Sign ups accepted until all seats are full
DETAILS: Take advantage of free school bus transportation to the NYS Fair and free admission for Senior
citizens Day at the Fair. Everyone will be dropped off and picked up in the designated senior hospitality
area. Two buses will be sent if needed. Return at 5:00 pm.
MYSTERY TRIP
DATE: Thursday, October 10

DETAILS: It’s a mystery. Choice of chicken or ham for lunch. Please make choice with reservation. Believe it or not this is the 36th annual mystery trip! Be ready to fall in love with this trip. Bring a jacket just in case.
THE WINDMILL CRAFT AND FARM MARKET

RESERVATIONS: Sign up by October 18 or all until all seats are full
DETAILS: The Windmill serves as an outlet for local producers and craftsmen. Now in its 31st year, The
Windmill hosts nearly 200 shops; something for everyone. Many folks start the day with breakfast, pick up
some produce, then explore the shops. A stop at Sauder’s Amish market will be made on the way home.
NOVA SCOTIA UP DATE:
Sunday September 15 to Saturday September 21
Final Payments are due in the Parks & Rec. office by August 2nd.

Please note that the itinerary provided is an outline of the trip. White Star tours does not
provide details on hotels or meals until closer to the trip departure date. Once the final
information is available it will be sent to all travelers.
