As my year in the East comes to
a close, I want to thank you for
such a great opportunity to
serve Sul Ross Lodge as Master
this year. This year has been
busy and exciting. We have seen
many young men join this great
fraternity and work hard to
earn the honor of being raised
as a Master Mason. Each of
them, have been instrumental in
assisting the lodge in our vari-
ous degrees. It is a great feeling
to see the next generation of
masons eager to learn and will-
ing to participate. I am proud of
the work each of them have put
in and grateful to call them my
brothers.
In recapping the past few
months, through the coordina-
tion of Brother Scott Atkinson,
Sul Ross Lodge successfully
participated in the Fantastic
Teeth Fan Club at three ele-
mentary schools during the
latter part of February and early
March. This is the third year
our Lodge has participated. We
also held our annual Sweetheart
Banquet, put on a successful Gift
of Life Blood drive, received
Right Worshipful Brother Mi-
chael D. Gerst for his official
visit and in May several mem-
bers of our lodge participated in an outdoor Master Mason’s
Degree sponsored by 29th Dis-
trict MWSA that was hosted by
the Brothers of Orphan’s Friend
Lodge No 17.
We applied for and received a
matching grant through the

what’s to come. If you are interested
in participating in degrees please talk
with our Degree Master, Brother
Caleb Williams, or our Lodge Instruc-
tor, Brother Roy Smith.
This is an exciting time for Sul Ross
Lodge, as so many young men are peti-
tioning our fraternity.
Finally, like I have mentioned in previ-
ous newsletters, I want to encourage
our brothers who are inactive that
remain in the area to become active
again to continue the great traditions
of our Lodge and Masonry at large. If
you are afraid that you can’t get into
lodge or have forgotten the work, you
need not to worry, we will welcome
you will open arms. We not only need
you, but our fraternity needs you and I
promise that you won’t regret being
more involved with the Craft.
As I close this last letter to you as Mas-
ter of Sul Ross Lodge, I would to thank
you all for your support throughout
this year. It has truly been an honor
and privilege to serve the Lodge in the
capacity of Master.
Sincerely and Fraternally,

Brethren,
As we draw toward the end of
this masonic year I want to
restate what a great pleasure it
has been serving the lodge as
your Senior Warden. I have
personally taken away a great
deal from my time in the West
and look forward to continuing
my travels within freemasonry.
Over the course of this past
year I have grown in masonic
knowledge, knowledge of our
history, and in love of our
brotherhood. I am very excit-
ed for the coming masonic
year and for the future of Sul
Ross Lodge and the Brazos
Valley Masonic Library and
Museum.
As your Worshipful Master
Elect for the upcoming Mason-
ic year I hope to continue our
growth within Sul Ross Lodge.
As we have young masons join
our fraternity it becomes very
important to have a strong
set of lodge instructors in
place that can help impart
knowledge on our new breth-
ren. Anyone interested in
working towards a certificate
from the committee on work
is highly encouraged to con-
tact me to work towards this
end.
I have very much enjoyed
giving a few masonic pro-
grams over my time as a
lodge officer and I highly en-
courage anyone that has any
interest in researching a topic
for a presentation before the
lodge to do so. I would be
happy to assist in the devel-
opment of a program, and
feel that anyone that has a
topic in mind to contact me
about developing it into a
program for one of our stat-
ed meetings.
Reflecting upon the working
tools that represent the vari-
ous officers of the lodge I ask
you all to remember the les-
sons taught by the Plumb, Lev-
el, and Square. Always seek to
stand upright in your daily
actions, always remember that
our time is limited but equal to
all so make good use of it, and
treat those around you with
the respect you yourself
should receive.
Thank you for allowing me the
honor of service as your Sen-
ior Warden, and I look for-
ward to the future in Sul Ross
Lodge.
Please feel free to contact me
with any questions at
979-229-6656 or
Sincerely & Fraternally,
Justin M. Meyer

Brethren,
As I reflect upon the closing Masonic
year, I am filled with pride. This past
year has been an amazing experience
and I am grateful for the support I
have received from our Worshipful
Master, Senior Warden, and a multi-
tude of brethren. Brother Reinbolt
has been an excellent Worshipful
Master and has provided the guidance
and leadership that a Lodge, such as
ours, needs in order to maintain our
path towards excellence. Brother
Meyer has excelled in his station as
the Senior Warden with an unrelent-
ing positive attitude that reflects his

desire to serve. Last but not least,
many of our brethren continuously
offer their talents so that our Lodge
may be the unremitting success we are
today.
One Brother in particular, who offers
his many talents at the Lodge’s benefit,
is Brother Roy Smith, the most recent
recipient of the Golden Trowel Award.
I congratulate him on a well deserved
honor. Brother Smith has been a dili-
gent and honorable servant to the Fra-
ternity and I am most pleased that he
was chosen to receive the Award.

Sul Ross Lodge was chartered in 1947, and is thought to be the first known Masonic Lodge to have func-tioned on the campus of a state college or university in the United States. A unique feature of the new
lodge was that among its members were the president of Texas A&M College, all of the deans, and almost all of the department heads. The sizeable number of college administrators who were Master Masons provided impetus to the growth of the new lodge which created almost 100 new masons during its first
year of existence. In 1951 Sul Ross Lodge purchased the Dan Russell building at 312 Jersey Street (now Bush Street). It was sold in 2000.

mentation of his estate gift qualifies for membership, no matter what size the gift.
The Gilchrist Heritage Society is named for “Gibb” Gilchrist, the first Master of Sul Ross
Masonic Lodge No. 1300, Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Texas, and President of
Texas A&M University.
Gilchrist Heritage Society members are recognized by being included in an Honor Roll pub-
lished each year, and by having their names permanently displayed on the Gilchrist Heritage
Society Plaque in the Brazos Valley Masonic Library & Museum.
THREE STEPS TO MEMBERSHIP Once you decide to make an estate gift to the Brazos Valley Masonic Library & Museum
Association, becoming a member of the Gilchrist Heritage Society takes just three simple
steps:
1) With the help of your professional advisors, include a gift to the Brazos Valley Masonic Library & Museum
Association in your estate plan. This might include a bequest, a living trust, beneficiary designation of a
retirement account or life insurance policy. A gift of any size qualifies you for membership. 2) Send the Brazos Valley Masonic Library & Museum Association a copy of your will, trust agreement, retire-
ment account statement, or insurance policy. If you prefer, you may copy just the relevant part of your
will or trust agreement or the cover and beneficiary pages of your retirement account or insurance policy.
If you and your spouse both seek membership and have a separate will, please submit copies of both docu-
ments. This applies also to trust agreements and other documents. 3) Request a membership form, complete the form, and return it to the Association. We will keep the de-
tails of your gift confidential, and you are welcome to decline public recognition.

I would also like to extend my
congratulations to Mr. William
“Coach” Patton as the recipi-
ent of this year’s Community
Builder Award. I can think of
no other person as deserving
of the Award as him. Finally, I
congratulate our two Lamar
Award recipients, Mr. Jose
Antonio Quiros, and Ms. Kate-
lyn Williamson. They were
both selected among many
applicants as this year’s recipi-
ents and are outstanding young
individuals who will make a
tremendous impact on those
around them in the coming
years.
Lastly brethren, as we look to
future, I encourage you to ask
yourself what you may to do

for the Fraternity. Whether
you teach the esoteric work,
participate in the Degrees,
serve as an officer, visit our
Widows and brothers in need,
or remember the destitute
when on bended knee, you are
needed and you are valued.
Please consider your role in
Freemasonry and speak with
the Master or Wardens about
where you may serve.
Sincerely & Fraternally,
