Page | 1 Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice Through the Eyes of a Diabetic. Do you know how challenging it is to turn away foods that you may crave such as caramel chocolates (yes, I consider that a food item). Especially around a holiday that is catered to chocolate? I practice a diabetic diet because I have three immediate family members who are diabetics and it is one of the most difficult things I’ve consistently faced. Every time we turn around, there is holiday food or an event that offers those enticing items that contain sugar. “Ok, today won’t hurt…..it’s just one day”. Don’t let the packaging fool you either. Even if the label reads no sugar added or high fiber contents, check out the carbs, even with OATMEAL! Carbs are the evil challenge. I’ve also tried to buy healthier foods for my kids and that is a challenge in itself, especially with boys since they graze 24/7. The pocketbook says….”buy cheaper snacks”; the healthy mind says….nuts. No, really. NUTS. It’s all nuts but nuts do provide the right protein. You just can’t eat as much as a bear does. After all, bears live on nuts and look at the size of them! It’s finding the right balance between food and exercise. The older I get, the more challenging it is because when I try to watch what I eat, I can literally eat a truckload of something. I’ve even posted a sign on my desk, “don’t feed the animal”. Nothing seems to work except determination. Inner strength and will. If you face similar struggles, you are not alone. It’s hard. It’s VERY hard. But it’s well worth it. I literally FEEL better when I eat better. So, even on Valentine’s Day, if you have a chocolate…or two…or a dozen; drink a lot of water to flush it away. Go to the Web Time application. On your employee dashboard in the lower right hand corner you will see “Display Benefits”. Click on display benefits. You will see your PTO/sick accrual balances. Click on request time off. Select which benefit type (PTO, Sick, Bereavement, or Jury), fill in the requested time off information and then click “Add New Request”, then click on “Submit Request”. Your supervisor will receive a notification that you have requested time off. They will accept or deny the request; either way, you will receive a confirmation. Dependents If you need to add or update dependent information, go to the Web Benefits application. Under “My Profile” select Family Info. You will see all of your family information. To update, click on the dependent name. If you need to add dependents, click on “Add Dependents”. All dependents should have social security numbers listed. If you have not provided dependent socials, please do so now. This information will be needed for our next open enrollment.     Helpful Hint

    Messages sent from a supervisor can be viewed

    conveniently from the Dashboard. Respond, if

    necessary, by using Comments to Supervisor.

    Access the Dashboard

    � Employees who complete timesheets for work performed may select My Timesheet from the menu bar.

    � Select My Pay Adjustments to view pay adjustments such as bonuses and expenses.

    � Select Employee Time Off Calendar to view and make time off requests. Users may be able to view other

    employees’ time off requests in the calendar.

    � Select the Help menu option and select Employee Training Documents to access user guides and videos.

    Access the Employee Dashboard from the menu bar. Easily retrieve messages from a supervisor

    by clicking the Message link.
